Who’s Truth-Mangling? WashPost ‘Fact Checker’ Helps Jen Psaki Take Fox News Out of Context

John Sexton, Hot Air, reports on a Washington PostIn an article entitled “How a out-of-context Jen Psaki video led to days worth of Fox coverage,” Team Biden was defended by “fact-checker”.

Listen to the Obama-bros Podcast Pod Save AmericaJen Psaki (White House press secretary) went Stelter on Fox and shamed Fox about covering something they weren’t covering: rising crime in American Cities.

Sexton is right to point out that Psaki was not accurate in her description of what Fox aired.

This Psaki quote was tweeted by the House Republicans:

This is what I believe it says if you see Fox daily. You may recall four boxes we used on our TVs. This is the one that I have right now. Just to give you an idea of CNN and Pentagon, there are eighty-five thousand U.S troops currently on high alert. Okay, true. The same thing on MSNBC. CNBC has their own take on the market. Also Jeanine Pirro is Jeanine Fox talking about soft-on crime consequences. You mean what? I don’t know what that means. Right? So there’s an alternate universe on some coverage. What’s scary about it is a lot of people watch that.

Psaki later tweeted, “She was taken outof context.”

You act like a White House staffer Post deputy video editor Adriana Usero just reproduced the Psaki tweet and repeated her argument.

In other words, Psaki wasn’t randomly striking out against Fox News, she was actually responding to a direct question about an exchange between her and Fox News reporter Peter Doocy during the Jan. 24 White House briefing. She was arguing that Republicans paint a distorted portrait of the Biden administration’s efforts to support police, but that point got left on the cutting room floor. The clip even snipped Psaki in mid-sentence to remove her observation that the claim that President Biden was not addressing public safety “couldn’t be further from the truth.”…

The use of this clip is an example of manipulated video — what we label “isolation” under our guide to manipulated video — because it’s intended to create a false narrative that doesn’t reflect the event as it occurred.

It’s not “independent fact-checking.” This is acting as Psaki’s Psecret Pservice.

Psaki and Usero don’t reflect the events as they happened. Sexton points to the fact it’s Fox NewsThis is being taken outof context. Psaki was laughing about a chyron from Five It aired on January 24, They aired an 11-minute segment which included that chyron over Jeanine Pirro. Why cover that topic that Monday? It was Friday night that two NYPD officers had been killed in an attack. The other one happened after. Psaki used this phrase to pretend that she lived in an alternate universe with “soft-on crime consequences”. Psaki was suggesting that it was ….Fake Information. Psaki didn’t watch the show. She was commenting upon the chyron. They were then upset that Fox ridiculed her for being so inept on crime. Pirro didn’t mention Biden at all!

The PostAlthough robots are not required to enjoy Fox News Channel, it is a smart idea to check out the Fox News video here if you write for “The Fact Checker.” You can at the least acknowledge that Jen Psaki’s Fox News comments weren’t informed of what actually was discussed.
