Democrats have been a toxic presence for everyone and everything from the economy to border states, but one other group suffering the most under Democrat leadership is our nation’s thin blue line.
New data by the FBI shows that LEOKA, or law enforcement officers killed while in action database, has shown that 73 officers were shot to death in 2021. This is an increase of 58.7 per cent, according to The Heartland Institute. 46 officers had been killed in 2020 and 48 in 2019.
It was the deadliest year of police officers since 1995, when 74 were killed. Only 2011, however, saw 72.
According to Fox News, Jason Johnson from the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund pointed out that this is an obvious effect.
“We believe it’s a combination … of the George Floyd protests — riots, if you will; a general feeling of a preference for less law enforcement; and less prosecution and less policing,” said Jason Johnson, president of the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund (LELDF) and a 20-year police veteran.
“Law enforcement officers have essentially been marginalized and demoralized and cast aside and encouraged not to enforce the law. And so we’ve seen massive jumps in the homicide rate in cities across America.”
He added that “it’s natural” rising homicide rates in major U.S. cities have “also resulted in many more officers being assaulted because … a lot of leaders in these cities and leaders in Congress and leaders in the White House have really voiced a lack of respect for law enforcement officers.”
This effect has an obvious cause. Democrats have been pushing for the defunding and weakening of police with increasing veracity over the course of the past few years, culminating in many blue cities actually going through with a “reimagining” of police, resulting in skyrocketing murder rates. The demonization and murder of police officers across the country was inevitable.
As Senator John Kennedy noted about the crime rise, the Democrat’s unofficial approach to crime is “Hear no evil, see no evil, prosecute no evil.”
The soft-on-crime approach has been a Democrat staple for decades, but Biden’s election to the White House gave Democrats the power to do as they pleased from the top down. While Biden has insisted he’s not one for defunding the police, he himself had suggested reallocating resources and funding to different departments. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki has attempted to mask the surge as a “gun violence” problem, rejecting the idea that this is somehow the Democrat Party’s fault.
The news gets worse for Democrats, as a strong majority of voters seem to be aware that the soft-on-crime approach from Democrats from top to bottom is a major problem and massively disapproves of the job they’re doing.
The bottom line is that the Democrats have turned their back on our law enforcement officers and they’re suffering in many ways including dying in horrific numbers. This doesn’t just affect them either. This brazen attack on law enforcement is a disregard for law and can lead to crime spiraling across the country.
Biden and Democrats have plunged the nation into chaos, and our thin blue line has taken some of the most severe hits.
