Another week and another liberal politician is excused from maskless hypocrisy. Past and future Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams appeared in a smiling photo on Friday as she posed in front of dozens of masked third graders. The same ABC, CBS, and NBC that routinely fawn about the unsuccessful candidate while promoting her as vice president or president ignored this hypocritical act.
This cringe-worthy picture was not covered by Fox or CNN. On Monday’s Fox and Friends, Brian Kilmeade offered an exasperated take: “She has no problem doing this, sitting there with it looks like a bunch of third graders…. Sitting there with them without a mask on, big smile on her face.”
All weekend, the morning and evening programs were quiet about this gaffe. CBS MorningsGayle Kings, Gayle’s host, has shown a lot of affection for Abrams. Back on June 10, 2020, she talked her up as a potential VP for Joe Biden: “You know it’s widely reported you’re on the short list for Joe Biden’s VP. It was something we discussed last time you visited. It’s obvious that you are very interested. Have you had recent conversations?”
On May 10, 2021, CBS Sunday Morning hailed her as a “force” and speculated about a presidential run. On November 10, 2020 CBS This Mornings reporter Mark Strassmann gently asked the Democrat about her refusal to concede she lost the Georgia governor’s race: “[You]Loses by 55,000 votes. So you’ve never conceded that race because you believe it was stolen from you?”
This will be effective on the 28th December, 2021 Good Morning America, co-host Janai Norman gushed over Abrams, her new book, the Democrat’s 2022 campaign:
Hello, Ms. Stacey Abrams. Thank you so much for coming to our office! We are so excited to discuss this book …. You also shared some other important news earlier in the month. Georgia’s governor seat will again be up for grabs in 2022. It is three years after your narrow loss. How will this go for you?
On CNN, Bakari Sellers conceded how bad this all looked: “I mean in politics is it unhelpful? The answer is yes, because now we’re talking about it on CNN. Trust me, they’re going to be talking about it on Fox News all week long.”
Stacey Abrams, who encourages masking at schools, is obviously hypocritical. But not for her. This gaffe should not be covered by the same networks who fawn over Abrams.
