LOL: NBC News President Claims We’re ‘Ferociously Defending’ Objectivity

Brent Baker, MRC president, called it the “Unintentional laughter of the week”. Noah Oppenheim, president of NBC News, gave an interview to Tom Jones from the liberal Poynter Institute about news. Oppenheim’s assertions about NBC’s objectivity were jaw-dropping. Oppenheim stated that NBC aims at offering its viewers the following:

NBC News proper as a whole — everything that falls under the NBC News umbrella — we are ferociously defending the traditional approach to journalism. We’re ferociously defending the idea that it’s possible to hold the middle ground and be objective and nonpartisan. That’s our mission.

When we go and interview a national figure, whether it’s Vice President Harris or if it had been Vice President Pence three years ago, we’re going to go into each of those interviews with the exact same mentality, which is these are the folks who are running our country. These people must be held accountable. Which are the most difficult questions we need to ask in order for that to happen?

I believe in the old school approach to journalism, and that both sides should be just as hard. And seeking truth and fact. We are here to help, not preach.

Oppenheim answered the question “It definitely has a spot in the menu available in the world for those who are interested in advocacy journalism.” This is a very worthwhile area. It’s not what we do, though. It’s not what NBC News does.” It is important to mention that Oppenheim does not manage MSNBC. This would make the remarks more hilarious.

Jones asked Jones if Jones was asking about an uncovered topic, such as immigration or climate change. (NBC seems to have abandoned the border issue under Biden). Oppenheim answered:

It’s always safe that the potential demise of our planet due to climate change is under-covered.  … We’ve tried to account for that. I don’t know if you can ever do quite enough. We’ve made a really conscious effort to capture the voices of underserved communities in the last couple of years as well and I think we’ve made strides toward that end. I don’t think it’s work that is finished, however.

It’s not the “potential end of the Earth” that the media is being pressured to ignore objectivity. Oppenheim also blasted Oppenheim’s claim of objectivity in this interview, pointing out NBC’s biased coverage on Southlake parents who are resisting the “diversity” and inclusion efforts.  The Southlake story was one of our greatest successes last year…this There was a heated debate at school board level about diversity and curriculum.” They took it from a print story to a morning and evening newscast story and then “a podcast that reached a couple million people and was on lists for the best podcasts of 2021. The result was a digital documentary, which has been viewed more than a million times.

We noticed that NBC News could not find any sexual assaults outside D.C., Loudoun County in Virginia. But they were obsessed with the Dallas suburb. This conversation does not include how NBC claimed that the Biden Justice department responded by launching an investigation into Southlake’s school district.
