On this episode of “Just When You Thought Crap Couldn’t Get Any Crazier”…
“Take two climate change claims and call me in the morning.”
When a lady in her 70s went into a Canadian emergency room this past summer suffering from multiple health problems, including diabetes and “some heart failure,” Dr. Kyle Merritt, head of the emergency department at Kootenay Hospital in British Columbia, went to work diagnosing the woman’s underlying health issues that might be responsible for her condition. Finally, by Jove, he got it: “Climate change.”
There it was.
The first person on Mother Earth to be officially diagnosed with the “disease” of “climate change.”

The Times Colonist reported that it was in June when British Columbia was experiencing heatwaves (weather conditions) that would become some of the most deadly and deadly weather events in Canadian history. As Merritt saw the worsening heatwave’s toll on patients coming into the hospital with multiple health issues all at once, he told the Times Colonist, he began to wonder why. What did these patients share in common?
Is there any commonality that might explain this rise in patients who are affected? The heatwave could be a contributing factor. Merritt commented on the patient in question:
“She has diabetes. She is suffering from some type of heart attack. … She lives in a trailer, no air conditioning. She has had all her problems with health worsened. And she’s really struggling to stay hydrated.”(*(“We were having to figure out how do we cool someone in the emergency department,” Merritt said. “People are running out to the Dollar Store to buy spray bottles.” (See:

What is Climate Change?
“I was worried about the summer that was coming,” Merritt said, and — here it comes — he said he was amazed by the number of his fellow healthcare workers “desperate to talk about how climate change is affecting their patients’ health. I was really quite amazed at how many people have decided to jump in.”

According to the Times Colonist, doctors have traditionally struggled to clinically attribute mortality and severe illness to air pollution. For Merritt, this summer’s wildfire season changed all that.November 7, 2021
Merritt noticed that a patient was having trouble breathing and knew it. You’m not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, but
IIt could have been done This is it. A patient with asthma struggles to breath in a smoke-filled environment. You never knew!But Dr. Merritt was a different kind of doctor. For the first time in his 10 years as a physician, the ER doctor picked up his patient’s chart and wrote two words: “climate change.”
“If we’re not looking at the underlying cause, and we’re just treating the symptoms, we’re just gonna keep falling further and further behind.”
“It’s me trying to just … process what I’m seeing,” Merritt said.
“We’re in the emergency department, we look after everybody, from the most privileged to the most vulnerable, from cradle to grave, we see everybody. And it’s hard to see people, especially the most vulnerable people in our society, being affected. It’s frustrating.”
I don’t want to remain fixated on the smoke from the forest fires, but I assume the doc and his pals attributed the fires to climate change, as well, so by extension patients affected by the smoke were naturally affected by the “underlying cause” of the smoke, “climate change.” Just like that.

“What do you do with your children? You know, I have three kids, and they’re inside, it’s summertime, we’ve just got through COVID. They want to jump on the trampoline. So I have to try and figure out: Is that safe?”
You see what’s going on here, right? These maskers will not stop.
What is COVID? Mask mandates. Can you withstand heatwaves You must be aware. Climate change “caused” by heatwaves and forest fires? For the rest of you life, you will be wearing a mask.
