WH Goes All-in on Censorship Over Spotify and Joe Rogan – Opinion

We’ve been talking about the left’s effort to do in Joe Rogan by trying to get him booted off Spotify. Spotify stated that they will place a content advisory in any discussion of COVID and provide links to various COVID information. But, they didn’t even mention Rogan in their statement. They added that while they believed in showing different opinions, they didn’t agree with censoring — making it clear they are not showing him the door.

So, that hasn’t stopped the left from pushing because what they care about isn’t misinformation, but silencing voices like Rogan who say and air things other than the narrative.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki went all-in on the censorship push Wednesday, saying that there was “more that could be done” to go after “misinformation.”

“This disclaimer is a positive step, but we want every platform to continue doing more to call out mis- and disinformation while also uplifting accurate information,” Psaki said in response to a reporter’s question at her regular press briefing.

“Look at the facts, right? You are 16 times more likely to be hospitalized if you’re unvaccinated and 68 times more likely to die than someone who is boosted, if you’re unvaccinated,” she added. “That’s pretty significant. And we think that is something that unquestionably should be the basis of how people are communicating about it.”

“Our view is it’s a good step,” Psaki concluded. “It’s a positive step, but there’s more that can be done.”

First, let’s deal a little bit with her misleading take here, with her misinformation. It’s a “content advisory” — not an acknowledgment that anything in it is “misinformation.” It’s a link to a page pointing to more information.

Problem is, who made Joe Biden and the government arbiters of truth? When you have the government acting as a censor — using its power to lean on tech companies to suppress any information with which they disagree — that should terrify all people concerned with freedom of speech and government overreach. That’s what’s going on here.

It begs the question: if they are trying to censor others, then they should not consider their own positions. They want to block any deviation from the story. Why move to shut down others, rather than seeing what’s wrong in their own message? As Rogan noted, what the government and liberal media has termed “misinformation” and what is true seems to be constantly changing.

If the platforms did what Psaki suggested and honestly went after “misinformation,” then Psaki, Joe Biden, and the White House would be in deep trouble because they’d have to dump or put a “disclaimer” on so many things, Biden remarks would disappear because there are so many lies and so much misinformation that he slings. On COVID itself, Biden has repeatedly, falsely said that the vaccinated couldn’t catch the virus. It has been a huge mistake for the White House.

One of the doctors who Rogan had on had a response to Psaki’s comments: if they think he’s pushing misinformation, why don’t they invite him for a review of his data?

That’s a good question.
