The former president Donald Trump visited Washington D.C. in order to give a speech at the America First Policy Institute, his first appearance since leaving the White House. Trump’s speech was mainly about the lawlessness and rampant crime on our streets and the need for law and order.
Trump made the suggestion that drug dealers convicted of causing death should be punished during his speech.
“The penalties should be very, very severe. If you look at countries throughout the world, the ones that don’t have a drug problem are ones that institute a very quick trial death penalty sentence for drug dealers.”
“It sounds horrible, doesn’t it? It sounds terrible, doesn’t it? That’s the ones that don’t have any problem. It doesn’t take 15 years in court. It goes quickly, and you absolutely — you execute a drug dealer, and you’ll save 500 lives.”
“It’s terrible to say, but you take a look at every country in this world that doesn’t have a problem with drugs, they have a very strong death penalty for people that sell drugs.”

A study done by the National Institutes of Health’s National Cancer Institute found:
“The U.S. has the highest death rate due to drug overdoses for both men and women (35 deaths in 100,000 men and 20 deaths in 100,000 women) in 2015, more than double those of any other country in our study,”
In 2018, Yingxi Chen, one of the researchers at the National Institutes of Health’s National Cancer Institue said:
“The U.S. has the highest death rate due to drug overdoses for both men and women (35 deaths in 100,000 men and 20 deaths in 100,000 women) in 2015, more than double those of any other country in our study.”
According to a 2018 study, “The United States had more than double the rate of premature overdose deaths of at least 12 other countries.”
Trump also mentioned that homeless encampments should be moved away from major cities into “large parcels of inexpensive land at the outer reaches of the city” while creating tents with medical professionals to assist the homeless.
He continued:
“We’re living in such a different country for one primary reason: There is no longer respect for the law, and there certainly is no order. Our country is now a cesspool of crime.”
As Fox News reported, six major cities — Los Angeles, Atlanta, Washington D.C., New York City, Philadelphia, and Baltimore — are on track to pass the 2021 violent crime total, just halfway through 2022, mainly due to disgraced district attorneys who do not prosecute criminals and those who end up in prison not serving their full prison sentence.
Trump’s speech regarding harsh penalties for convicted drug dealers could be a winning message for the GOP in the 2022 midterms, as many Americans are fed up with drug dealers and the ease with which their children are able to get their hands on drugs.
It is unclear if Trump will declare his candidacy for president before or after midterm elections. He said he was clear about his decision, but it remains to see if he will be running or sitting out in 2024.
