Friday afternoon, his friend Nicolle’s MSNBC shot Deadline: White House, the former McCain presidential campaign head-turned-Trump-hating liberal and co-found of the disgraced Lincoln Project indulged a sick fantasy about House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). The House GOP leader was described as “among most villainous figures in American history”Schmidt was sick and fantasized about McCarthy being handcuffed and kept in a basement.
Schmidt was responding to McCarthy’s past relationship with Trump (beginning with events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2017), when he said that Trump had “become…this villainous figure that is”. “One of the most evil figures in American history” And “played a — a profoundly important role over this last year through the lying, through the cover-up, of poisoning faith and belief in democracy.”
Schmidt dropped the analogy, pointing out that McCarthy is a child’s persona.
Kevin McCarthy is the central figure in all of it. Kevin McCarthy has been and continues to be the centre of this. And — and The House should exercise every power it can, even an inherent contempt power to see Kevin McCarthy handcuffed and taken into custody in a basement office locked down.He may not testify until further notice.
There’s no country matter more important than this. Your status as Minority Leader or leader of Republicans doesn’t exempt you from performing your duty and complying lawful subpoenas. That political title does not give you the authority to block an investigation into a criminal investigation or attack the process of electing the President of the United States.
Although he is referring to basement offices within the Congress, the notion of imprisoning someone in a basement is nothing short of skin-crawlingly creepy and borderline that of some sick BDSM fantasy. And that goes for whatever you think of McCarthy’s performance and politics.
