NBC Highlights Dems Soft-on-Crime Policies, While ABC & CBS Blame Guns

The rise of crime continues to sweep the nation. President Joe Biden visited New York City on Thursday to meet with Democratic Mayor Eric Adams. During their coverage that evening, both ABC World News TonightCBS Evening NewsThe rampant crime in New York was covered with a strong focus on guns and not the Defund the Police policies or rhetoric of the Democrat Party. Only NBC Nightly Newsa focus on real-life criminal consequences.

ABC’s World News Tonight Cecilia Vega, chief White House correspondent, denied that New York City’s problem was caused by the Democrat Party’s support for criminal activity rather than supporting officers. “Today the President announced that he will crack down on ghost guns. Weapons without serial numbers are hard to trace during a crime.She said it.

Adding: “Authorities train prosecutors in how to prosecute criminals who abuse them. Also, the administration is targeting so-called “iron pipeline”. Guns illegally trafficked along the east coast found in crime scenes from Baltimore to New York, where shootings are now up 32 percent from last year.“

Vega decided even to participate in the media common game of “Republicans pouncing”, claiming: “President Biden is responding to Republican claims that Democrats are weak on crime.” Vega was also worried about how rising crime might affect Democrats at the upcoming Midterm Elections. 

Democrats and President Obama are well aware of the political issues surrounding crime’s rise in American cities. David, this is obvious. Voters are dissatisfied and midterm elections are within reach.

CBS had the exact same story, and Jeff Pegues, chief national affairs correspondent, reported that it. “Cities struggle to control crime. The number of gun violence deaths increased by nearly 12 percent in 2021 compared with the same year last. Some cases are too difficult for law enforcement officers to handle. Suspectes armed with illegally converted machine guns or manufactured weapons.

It is not mentioned again that these policies have been weak on crime in cities with rampant crimes.

It was a different story at NBC. Gabe Gutierrez, the national correspondent of NBC asked Eric Adams questions about New York City’s Mayor. Does defunding police make a difference?Adams replied. “no it does not. And it’s the wrong bumper sticker.” 

Gutierrez then pressed Adams on the announcement from leftist Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, “who sparked controversy saying he will not prosecute certain crimes to promote alternatives to jail.” When asked if he believes the District Attorney is going too far, Adams replied “he has to make the determination we are going to arrest those that break the law, and it’s up to the D.A.s who do their part of this bargain to properly prosecute those who break the law.”

Last week, ABC ignored Dominique Luzuriaga, the widow of slain 22-year-old NYPD Detective Jason Rivera, who blasted Bragg as the reason her husband was murdered. “I’m sure you have had enough of the laws and especially those from the new DA. She said, “I hope he is watching me speak through you right now.”

DAVIDMUIR: This is DAVID MUIR reporting on crime in America. President Biden visited New York City tonight to recognize fallen NYPD officers and said, “Enough is enough.” Cecilia Vega is our White House Chief Correspondent.

CECILIA VEGA: The President of the United States, Joe Biden, today attended violence prevention programs in New York. This program was initiated in response to a sharp rise in major crimes in New York. Just days after two NYPD officers were killed in the line, thousands gathered to bid farewell to them.

JOE BIDDEN, THE PRESIDENT: It is a national loss. A man who stole a Glock and 40 rounds from his gun was able to cut off futures.

VEGA: The President today announced a crackdown against ghost guns. These guns are not serialized and can be difficult to trace during a criminal investigation. The authorities train prosecutors to pursue criminals using them. Also, the administration is targeting so-called “iron pipeline”. The administration also targeted the so-called iron pipeline. NORAH O’DONNELL: Crime and violence is on the rise in almost every major city in the country. Today’s visit by President Biden was to New York, which is experiencing its own crime wave. CBS’s Jeff Pegues reported. 

JEFF Pegues: President Biden gave today’s promise to police officers who are on the frontlines for violence that help would be provided.

JOE BIDDEN, PRESIDENT: It’s not necessary to cut funding for the police. Instead, you should be given the resources, training and financial support to become protectors.

PEGUES. Mr. Biden visited New York City within days of two NYPD Officers’ funerals. A man with a high-capacity magazine and an assault rifle that could hold 40 rounds was able to shoot the officers. Six NYPD officers were killed in the first month of this year. New York’s Mayor, sitting beside the President, demanded action to end the violence.

NEW YORK CITY MAYOR ERIC ADAMS: This is our solidarity in dealing with violence in New York City and other cities in America.

PEGUES – Cities struggle to control crime. The number of gun-related murders increased by nearly 12 percent in 2021 compared with the same year last. CHITTUM The average police officer does not have a machine gun. Criminals have become more sophisticated.

O’DONNELL: And Jeff Pegues joins us now from New York. Jeff: What does the administration propose to do in order to take these ghost guns out of the streets?

PEGUES – Today the Justice Department revealed a new initiative which would increase punishments for those who are caught using ghost guns to commit crimes. New York City residents are hoping for relief. The shootings in this area have increased by 32 percent this year. Norah?

LESTER HOLT: Now to America’s surge in violent crime. It is a pressure situation for President Biden to take action to reduce it. He was here today to promote plans to decrease gun violence in New York City. Here’s Gabe Gutierrez.

JOE BODEN, PRINCE: The flow of guns used for violence is a problem. We need to take on and stop rogue dealers.

GUTIERREZ, Crime has risen by 39 percent this year. Shootings have risen 32 percent. Violent crimes, including car thefts, up 27%, and violence, as high at 27%.

NEW YORK CITY MAYOR ERIC ADAMS: This rise in crime is not only professional but it’s personal and it’s real.

GUTIERREZ: Mayor Adams, a former police captain telling us he’s rolling out new steps to combat gun violence, including using facial recognition technology to identify suspects and deploying more cops on the streets. 

GUTIERREZ – Does defunding police make sense?

GUTIERREZ – Adams met days ago with the new Progressive Manhattan District attorney who caused controversy by stating that he would not pursue certain criminal acts in order to encourage alternatives to prison. This was rebuffed by the police.

DOMINIQUE LUZURIAGA, WIDOW OF JASON ROBERTA: I’m sure that you have grown tired of these laws especially those from the new D.A. I hope he’s watching you speak through me right now.

GUTIERREZ – Is Manhattan D.A. Goes too far with the Manhattan D.A.

ADAMS: I believe he has to make the determination we are going to arrest those that break the law, and it’s up to the D.A.s who do their part of this bargain to properly prosecute those who break the law.

GUTIERREZ: It sounds like to me that you think he’s gone too far. 

ADAMS: No, that’s not it. My opinion does not matter.

GUTIERREZ: You’re the Mayor.

ADAMS: To keep this city safe, I will use every tool at my disposal.

GUTIERREZ, New York’s latest rock star was this shootout at a Brooklyn shopping center. One more was taken to a Bronx hospital.

CHRISTINE NIEVEZ: It’s not okay.

GUTIERREZ: Christine Nievez’s nineteen-year-old daughter Crystal was working the night shift last month at Burger King in Harlem when a gunman robbed her. She deposited over $100 at the register. He still shot and killed his wife.
