The hard left has responded with a variety of absurdities to the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict. The left had an instant meltdown when the verdict was revealed on social media. They claimed that it was due to white supremacy and racism.
In spite of the many braindead comments that have been made regarding the trial, NAACP President Derrick Johnson was a complete moron when he appeared on MSNBC alongside Zerlina Maxill, an activist for the media. Johnson made a comparison between the Rittenhouse trial and the murder of Emmett Till during the conversation. He stated:
“It was an injustice. This was more serious than the Emmett till trial. It was even worse than many other trials in which we are certain that individuals have committed murder but were not charged with the crime. It is unfortunate, but this is America.”
In response, Maxwell asked if Johnson believes that the verdict “emboldens other people to pick up guns and go to protests or communities of color to terrorize folks?”
Johnson responded that he blamed former President Donald Trump. He also cited other examples of violence against political and racist groups. He replied:
“Well, this is the legacy of the Trump administration. It is about the otherness and involved in so many people, whether it’s in Charlottesville or the synagogue in Pittsburgh or in this case where people feel like it is okay to display their white supremacist behavior in the public square.
Unfortunately for the families of the victims of this murder, here’s a 17-year-old who came across state lines with a firearm that he purchased illegally, driven by his mother, to a community that did not invite him, allegedly protecting property that was not his property, to support law enforcement officers who didn’t need support.
The NAACP president added that Rittenhouse was not allowed to be present at Kenosha’s Riot on That Night. Also, the judge who dismissed the weapons charges was criticised by the NAACP president. “And so there is no logical reason for him to be there,” he said. “The fact that this judge dismissed the armed charges, which should not have, shouldn’t have been dismissed.”
Johnson speculated about Rittenhouse’s federal crime and suggested that the Biden government should take over. He added:
“The real question here is, was there a federal crime committed? Do you think the Biden government should be facing federal charges? Do we have a US attorney that’s been appointed in this jurisdiction, so that we can look at whether or not this young man should be charged? You and I both know had this person been African American or Latino, he would be behind bars tonight.”
Johnson’s wish-casting for the federal government to seek action against Rittenhouse is not just absurd on its face, it reveals that the NAACP president, along with many of his contemporaries, is not seeking justice: they are looking for revenge. The notion that Rittenhouse’s verdict will be any like Emmett Till’s is absurd. It also degrades what Till and his loved ones went through.
Emmett Till died after being brutally beat to death by racist whites believing he had catcalled white women. According to History.com, “[H]The corpse of the victim was found, but it was so badly disfigured that no one was able to identify him. [his great-uncle] could only identify it by an initialed ring.”
Till wasn’t rioting at the time he died. He didn’t attack anybody. The murderers of his victims did not defend themselves. This was an egregiously racist act of violence that is not comparable to Kyle Rittenhouse’s. Johnson willingly went to great lengths to help white men tormenting a black neighborhood shows how little their true concern is for that community. They believe white progressive approval of the black community is more important than being truthful.
