In news that will shock nobody, MSNBC’s ReidOutThe segment turned into another Republican bashing segment. A guest described the GOP and Democrats as supporters of Fascism, while the host referred to them as Democrats supporters of democracy. Never mind the fact that the network spent much of Wednesday and Thursday wringing their hands over the defeat of Never Trump Republican Liz Cheney’s landslide defeat for renomination. Leftist media will only respect democracy if their favorite candidates win.
Tiffany Cross, the fill-in host for Joy Reid’s vacation, brought in Fernand Amandi (MSNBC) to talk about the midterms in 2022 and the recent polling results in important Senate races.
Discussing how Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell recently admitted how it looks more likely Republicans will win back control of the House of Representatives than the Senate, Cross said “it’s a sign that says something that Mitch McConnell is concerned. However, I do think about the rampant voter suppression happening across the country.”
In response, Amandi wailed that “fundamentally, right now what is on the ballot this November, let’s not make any mistake about it. This week’s Liz Cheney election made this clear. It’s not between Republican and Democrat. It’s between democracy and fascism.”
He even cried voter suppression by claiming “the Republican playbook is to rig the system and make voting the most difficult thing possible. So you’re asking a lot of these Democratic candidates to win in states with one hand tied behind their back, a little pepper spray thrown in their faces.”
Amandi did not explain how Republicans are supporting Fascism and engaging in voter suppression. Maybe because he knows he has no coherent explanation and decided that it’s easier to simply throw around insults and allegations.

Eastern, 7:49:00 PMTIFFANY Cross: Here are the concerns I have, Fernand. Because I can hear you saying it. And I think it’s a sign that says something that Mitch McConnell is concerned. I think of the widespread voter suppression that is taking place across this country. Partisan poll watchers are what I am thinking about. These people are the ones who run how elections are taking place, and may have felt empowered since January 6.
This is a very unfair playing field. Are voters so scared by what the Republican Party is doing that they are willing to jump over this kind of tactic to subvert the will of their constituents?
FERNAND AMANDI: Tiffany, that has to happen. Fundamentally, what’s on the November ballot is clear. It was made clear by the Liz Cheney results this week. It’s not between Republican and Democrat. It is between democracy and fascism.
But you’re right. You’re correct. The Republican strategy is to make it difficult for voters and rig the system. You’re asking many of these Democratic candidates for victory in states that have their hands tied and pepper spray in their eyes. All of the Republican efforts to make voting harder and targeted at certain voters are taken into consideration.
It’s evident everywhere, but especially here in Florida where it is happening in an environment that has been extremely difficult for Republicans in the last few weeks. It’s still something you have to contend with. And you’re right you cannot take them for granted because what they’re doing is trying to monkey it up.
