During her interview with Karena Dawn on The Big Silence, Miki Agrawal delved into her upbringing and how it shaped her perspective as an innovator and disruptor.

When asked about her childhood, Agrawal shared that she was raised in a multicultural environment, growing up in French Montreal with an Indian and Japanese heritage. She explained, “I was exposed to various cultures, opinions, and perspectives. It was a truly multicultural neighborhood.”

Agrawal emphasized the importance of open dialogue, saying, “We were encouraged to engage in debates. There was a genuine acceptance of different perspectives, allowing us to see the world through diverse lenses.”

Early Entrepreneurial Ventures

Karena Dawn inquired about Miki Agrawal’s early ventures and the ideas that propelled her forward. Agrawal revealed, “We were always involved in science fair projects and built various things, such as digital slot machines… Our parents also started small companies while we were growing up.”

Agrawal recounted her very first project, which involved raising funds at the age of 18 to produce a short film called “Soccer Dads” alongside her twin sister. They tirelessly gathered local talent, hired actors, and sourced supplies, resulting in a production that cost over $9,000.

Reflecting on the experience, Agrawal said, “It was incredibly enjoyable to raise funds, problem-solve, and bring the project to life. That was just the beginning.”

Exploring New Horizons

After exploring different business concepts in her youth, Miki Agrawal pursued her Bachelor of Science in Business and Communication, graduating from Cornell University in 2001. She then transitioned into the finance industry, working at Deutsche Bank in New York City.

TUSHY was born out of Agrawal’s mixed-cultural background and her personal affinity for bidets. After pitching the idea to her husband and garnering support, TUSHY became a reality.

Agrawal recounted her own health struggles, including frequent bathroom visits and associated challenges. TUSHY was developed as a modern bidet that could be easily attached to any toilet within 10 minutes, without the need for plumbing or electrical work.

Explaining the TUSHY device, Agrawal described it as a “shower for your butt,” highlighting its transformative impact on personal hygiene. This innovative concept quickly gained traction and solidified Agrawal’s reputation as a serious disruptor.
