Merrick Garland Makes Statement on FBI Raid Against Trump – Opinion

After the outrage and furor over the FBI raid at the Mar-a-Lago residence of President Donald Trump’s, Attorney General Merrick Grland announced that he will be making a statement.

The anger has only been exacerbated by the fact that there has not been an official statement made since Monday’s raid. FBI Director Christopher Wray was asked about the raid but he refused to officially comment, saying “that’s not something I can talk about, and I’d refer you to the department.” Instead, he just spoke about “threats” to the FBI, saying he decried any violent threats.

It was claimed by the White House that they weren’t aware. Reports have suggested that Garland didn’t know about the incident, which appears unbelievable.

Fox reports that Trump was served with a subpoena from the grand jury and that he provided documents in response to it.

He was due to make the statement at 2:20 p.m., so it is hard to imagine what went on behind closed doors. Fox said that the White House wasn’t even aware that Garland was going to make a statement until it was announced a short time ago.

Garland indicated that DOJ would discuss court filings. They filed a motion for the warrant to be unsealed because Trump commented about the raid. Copies of the warrant and the inventory list were given to Trump’s attorney, he claimed. Garland claimed that he wanted to use the law in equal measure.

Garland said he couldn’t comment on the basis of the search, adding he personally approved the search. It is standard practice to search for less intrusive ways.

Garland said that he wouldn’t stand silently while the FBI was criticized, and added that he was proud to have worked alongside them.

He didn’t provide any further details as to what the nature of the raid was about, and he refused to answer any questions. It was basically a lot of nothing.

If he thinks that answers the questions, he’s sorely mistaken.
