Ivanka Trump Devastates Ocasio-Cortez’s Plan to Gift Every American a Job

“I don’t think most Americans, in their heart, want to be given something.”

Ivanka Trump, White House senior adviser and daughter to President Donald Trump, said in a Fox News interview aired Monday evening that the jobs guarantee contained in the Green New Deal – sponsored by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez– is incompatible with the wishes of most Americans.

“I don’t think most Americans, in their heart, want to be given something. I’ve spent a lot of time traveling around this country over the last four years. People want to work for what they get,” Trump told Fox News host Steve Hilton. “So, I think that this idea of a guaranteed minimum is not something most people want. They want the ability to be able to secure a job. They want the ability to live in a country where’s there’s the potential for upward mobility.”

According to Fox News, Hilton also asked Trump about the ideological framing of the 2020 race, with her father’s policies representing capitalism contrasted with the Democrats’ purported socialist sympathies.

“I think fundamentally if you ask yourself the question, ‘are we better today than we were yesterday or we were 2 years ago?’ The answer is, undoubtedly, yes,” Trump said. “So, as an American, families sitting down and thinking about their financial situation relative to a month ago or a year ago, America is doing very well and it stands in quite sharp contrast to the rest of the world. So, not only are we doing well, much of the world has slowed down in terms of the pace of their growth.”

In addition to its jobs guarantee, the Green New Deal is a promised progressive panacea for America’s alleged problems that augurs net-zero greenhouse gas emissions within 10 years, health care for all, high-speed trains, and support for family farming, among other far-fetched goals.

Ocasio-Cortez and her team, who have been some of the most ardent proponents of the policy, suffered a minor public relations debacle upon unveiling an FAQ for their version of the Green New Deal in early February. Included in the FAQ that was initially released – and then retracted – by Ocasio-Cortez’s office were provisions of “economic security” for individuals who are “unwilling to work,” a plan to “upgrade or replace” every building in the country in the name of “state-of-the-art energy efficiency,” and a push to completely wean the nation off of nuclear energy as soon as possible.
