Economic Dunce Ruhle Spins Millions Leaving Jobs As ‘Sign of Strength,’ Admits Inflation’s Bad

Following a Tuesday morning jobs report that showed record numbers of workers leaving their jobs, NBC Nightly News went into damage control mode that evening by trying to spin for the Biden Administration.

In a segment that lasted 51 seconds, Lester Holt turned to NBC business correspondent Stephanie Ruhle to put a happy face on the jobs numbers. Her first comment was to stress that “the headline is dramatic but it doesn’t tell the whole story.”Her next statement was that the “workforce shift”, which is taking place in today’s economy, and the worsening pandemic are a large part of it.

Lower-wage positions like hospitality and retail have greater exposure to Covid. They also experience more stress from frustrated customers. Many are now looking for work in secure places like warehouses or from their homes. This is good news, though.

Rule said that this was a positive thing because millions of Americans quit their jobs. en masse,This is putting pressure on supply chain infrastructures. She argued right now workers have leverage over employers which means “higher pay, better perks.”

Ruhle made an abrupt 180 degree change from her November comments, in which she stated that it was possible to afford inflation-related higher prices by admitting.

There is one downside to this: wages don’t rise as quickly as inflation. And Lester [Holt]Higher pay does not necessarily mean more, especially when all costs are higher.

Ruhle’s late-2013 statement about inflation was completely wrong. What’s changed?

NewsBusters’ deputy managing editor Nick Fondacaro noted that Ruhle ridiculed middle-class Americans trying to purchase groceries and gas by lecturing them.

Willie is the dirty little secret. [Geist]While nobody wants to spend more than they have to, we all have enough money on average to make it happen.

Ruhle has proven time and time again that she has no clue how the economy or business works, and she’s definitely oblivious to the struggles of everyday Americans.

LESTER HOLT: Let’s turn to that report on jobs. It was a November record of 4.5 million jobless, with 10.6 millions jobs still available. Stephanie Ruhle joins the discussion. What’s the secret to these numbers, Stephanie?

STEPHANIE RUHLE, NBC BUSINESS REPORTER: Lester’s headline may be dramatic, but it does not tell the entire story. The workforce is changing. The lower-wage retail or hospitality jobs have more exposure to Covid. Many are now looking for work in secure places like warehouses or from their homes. This is all good news. This is because so many people can find work, or quit their job and gain more leverage from employers. Higher pay and better perks may be the norm right now, but wages aren’t rising as rapidly as inflation. Lester says that higher wages don’t necessarily mean more when all costs are greater.

HOLT: Okay Stephanie. Thanks for setting it all in perspective.
