DeSantis Weighs on ‘Feud’ With Trump, Eviscerates Dems and Liz Cheney – Opinion

We’ve been hearing rumors of a feud between President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. For a couple of weeks, media has been pushing Ron DeSantis. It would stand to reason that they might at some point have issues — since they both are likely interested in the same position and have a tremendous amount of support. But they also have a lot of overlap… of folks who like both of them and see both of them as having positives for being president.

Right now, as we go into the midterms, there’s nothing more that the media would like than to precipitate a battle between DeSantis and Trump. That would distract from what a failure Joe Biden has been and take people’s minds off being united to defeat the Democrats. So, there’s no doubt that’s what they’re trying to stoke here.

Trump clarified the facts in January. You know that he doesn’t hold much back when he’s having issues with anyone; he said that he had a very good relationship with DeSantis.

DeSantis recently gave a Fox interview in which he resolves the problem. DeSantis also addressed the bigger question about how media loves to create trouble and pit people against one another.

“Donald Trump’s a friend of mine. He is proud when people do well, and it’s not just me, but obviously he’s a Florida resident, and he appreciates the job that we’ve done. He’s told me that many times, not only with helping with the election, but just how we govern the state.”

“He wants to see Republicans doing well,” DeSantis continued. “And I think when media is trying to act like he’s upset at me for doing well, I think that’s total bunk. I think they’re just making it up. And I think he’s somebody that wants to see, you know, not just Republicans do well, but people that are actually going to stand and fight do well across the board. Obviously, Florida is an important state, the third-largest state in the country, and really us and Texas are the two biggest states that have sizable Republican footprints, and so we’re proud of that, and we’re going to keep it going.”

DeSantis claimed that the Democrats were spreading rumors.

“No. I mean, look, I think that what they’re trying to do is they’re Biden. They made every effort to elect Biden. OK. Four years of lying about Trump was their practice. They tried everything to win Biden’s election, even though he campaigned in his basement. This was something they didn’t ask any questions about. Now he is allowed in. His first year was a disaster. It was one of the worst years for a president since the 1800s. He is often compared to Jimmy Carter. Carter was much more successful his first year than Biden has been,” DeSantis told Fox News Digital.

“So they know that, they know the Democrats are in for a shellacking in 2022. So they’re trying to change the topic, and they’re trying to drive dissension among Republicans. And so my message to people is, don’t take that bait. Understand what they’re trying to do. We need to be united and say we don’t like what the Biden administration’s doing. Florida is on a different course. It seems like other Republican states have a better vision. And let’s go into ‘22 with a full head of steam with everybody united on the same team.

DeSantis also talked about what his administration has been doing for election integrity in Florida, and said they had strong reforms to ban ballot harvesting and “Zuckerbucks” (funding from Facebook). These moves will likely be a happy medium for many Republicans including Trump.

While he didn’t comment specifically on the censures of Rep. Liz Cheney (RINO-WY) and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (RINO-IL), he did slam Cheney for being “totally off the rails with her nonsense.”

“We want people that are going to fight the left, and that’s what we need to do in this country. That’s what we’re doing in Florida, standing up for people’s freedoms. We’re opposing wokeness. We’re opposing all these things. It is wrong to act as if the only problem in our country are things that occurred more than a year ago. I can tell you in Florida, that’s not what Floridians are concerned about. They’re concerned about inflation and gas prices. They’re thankful that Florida’s a free state, but they look around the country and see how fragile freedom is. They’re thankful we’re a law and order state, but they look around and see what’s happening in a lot of these cities where crimes are spiking.”

“So I think focusing on the issues and showing that we stand for things that matter to people is the way forward. To have a vendetta against Donald Trump and to constantly be bringing this up is just not something that I think Republican voters are interested in,” concluded DeSantis.

That’s the proper focus to have.

The bottom line: The bottom line is that Democrats will do whatever they can in order to block the Republican effort. That’s why they’re pumping rumors, and why they’re using Cheney and the Jan. 6 Committee. That’s why they’re trying to steal Congressional seats with ridiculous redistricting efforts. Because they know the red wave is coming — and they will do anything they can to stop it.
