CBS Sunday Morning Frets ‘Human Extinction’ from ‘Climate Change’

People watch television morning news programs to find out the weather and traffic, as well as other information that will help them get their day started. They don’t want climate change fear mongering. This is especially evident on Sunday mornings where most Americans would like to have a relaxing Sunday before heading back to work the next day. Apparently, CBS Sunday Morning anchor Jane Pauley doesn’t care as she started off her program with the news that the “possibility of worldwide societal collapse or even eventual human extinction isn’t out of the question” because of “climate change.”

“Searing heat, massive wildfires, catastrophic flooding. The United Nations has unambiguous evidence that climate change is happening and that humans are the primary reason. So how bad can it get?” Pauley asked. “According to some scientists, the possibility of worldwide societal collapse or even eventual human extinction isn’t out of the question. It’s a harsh warning to say the least.”

To most people, Pauley’s fear mongering sounds insane. But sadly as evidenced by the rest of this climate alarmist segment, there are people who believe they’re going to die because of “climate change.”

Correspondent Tracy Smith picked up where Pauley left off claiming “Living through the summer of ’22 has made climate change harder to deny. whether here in bone-dry Nevada or in the Caribbean where rampant seaweed growth is choking beaches or Kentucky where too much water created a tragedy that’s still unfolding. But it seems there are still those who could use convincing that climate change has become a climate emergency,” she shrieked.

Smith interviewed a supposed scientist who was one of the protesters who “chained themselves to a Los Angeles bank in protest over the lack of action” on climate change (click expand):

PETER KALMUS: It is certain that we will all lose our fortunes, and this is not an exaggeration. We are not lying. This is not an exaggeration. Everyone knows this is a terrible situation.

SMITH – Do you feel as though you have all the science in your head and are trying to make it accessible to everyone?

KALMUS

SMITH: NASA scientist Peter Kalmus and father to two, says we need to be terrified about climate change right now.

KALMUS

SMITH: Do you really want people to panic?

KALMUS (I do not want people to freak out. Yeah. It’s not like people panic enough. There’s not enough public urgency over this.

SMITH: He wants everyone to understand what Summers will feel like.

This summer has been so scorching hot. What will next summer look like?

KALMUS: In general, it’s a trend going up. We will be looking back 20 years on the summer 2022, and we’ll wish we could have had this. This is what we will remember. And that’s not an exaggeration whatsoever.”

Instead of helping Kalmus get psychological help for his irrational fears that he’s going to die because of “climate change”, Smith just sat there and interviewed him like he was a serious person without a political agenda.

What’s worse is Smith transitioned from the interview by claiming the United Nations agrees with Kalmus that “we are going to lose everything.”

“For the most part the scientific community is behind him” Smith huffed. “The UN’s intergovernmental panel on climate change report is basically the last word on where we stand.”

If you spent two seconds Google-ing Peter Kalmus, it would be obvious what kind of climate fool he really is. In a report by Climate Depot, Kalmus claimed: “Here’s why race justice and climate justice are one & the same: The oppressive extractive plutocracies that colonize and kill black bodies and colonize and kill our planet are one and the same.”

If Smith was a real reporter and not a Democrat Party propagandist, she would’ve asked him about these loony statements. Instead, she gave him an opportunity to promote his paranoid conspiracies about climate change ending all life on Earth.

Capital One, Liberty Mutual and Liberty Mutual enabled this CBS climate change alarmism. They are linked.

CBS Sunday Morning
August 7, 2022
Eastern Time: 9:00:45

GOOD MORNING JANE PAULEY Jane Pauley here, it’s Sunday morning. Massive wildfires and severe flooding are some of the consequences of extreme heat. There is unanimity in the United Nations’ assertion that climate change has occurred and that it is caused by human activities. It’s as bad as it gets.

Scientists believe that there is a possibility for a global societal collapse and even human extinction. To put it bluntly, this is an alarming warning.

Tracy Smith is finding that there’s still hope this morning.

[…]

TRACY Smith: It’s hard to believe that climate change is happening after living through the summer 22. Whether here in bone-dry Nevada or in the Caribbean where rampant seaweed growth is choking beaches or Kentucky where too much water created a tragedy that’s still unfolding. It seems that there is still some who need convincing about climate change being a climate emergency.

[…]

SMITH: Hollywood scientists sound the alarm about climate change for many decades. But last spring, real scientists chained their hands to a Los Angeles bank as protest against the inaction.

KALMUS says: People should be freaked out.

This summer will remain in our memories. This is not an exaggeration.

SMITH : The scientific community has largely backed him. The UN intergovernmental panel on Climate Change Report is the final word about where we are at this point.
