A Texan’s View on NYC Mayor’s “Threat” to Send New Yorkers to Door Knock Around Texas – Opinion

New York is very different from Texas, with very different cultures. Texans tend to choose leaders who seem completely different, for the most parts. Texans prefer Republicans with a basic grasp of reality, while New Yorkers elect elitists who view reality as an inconvenience.

This is because Texans have to deal with reality far more than the elites in New York do, and there’s no greater example of this than how the states view the border crisis.

We see every day the results of our porous borders for Texans. When the border remains open, crimes of all kinds skyrocket. Farmers and ranchers must deal with dangerous drug traffickers and sex traders. Sometimes, they even discover abandoned children.

Meanwhile, the elites in New York don’t have to deal with this. They’re far removed from the border and, moreover, live and work in affluent parts of the big city. They see the border crisis as a way to hear about war in another country. It’s easy to pretend to care about these poor migrants just looking for a better life when you’re not suffering the consequences of their surging across the border alongside actual criminals.

Greg Abbott, Texas governor, saw the need for a solution and proposed it. These migrants would be bussed into the northern cities by Abbott. They will then sit back and watch as those who made racist remarks about Texans for trying to stem the flow of migrants panicked, and tried to prevent Abbott from sending this issue to them. These hundreds would be nothing compared to the thousands constantly streaming across the border, but reality would be brought to these elite’s front doorstep.

Abbott’s move proved to be on the money. These illegal migrants are now causing problems in these elitist’s cities and they’re throwing tantrums.

As RedState reported, NYC’s Mayor Eric Adams is reacting as any elite would. He’s lashing out at Abbott, claiming that he’s using innocent people to make a political point, and then he turned around and asked the same federal government that refuses to shut the border down for help in dealing with the migrant crisis in New York.

That’s not all. It appears Adams wants to bus New Yorkers to Texas so that they can begin knocking on doors and campaign for one of the most laughable Texas politicians to ever exist, Francis O’Rourke.

“I already called all my friends in Texas and told them how to cast their votes,” Adams said. “And I am deeply contemplating taking a busload of New Yorkers to go to Texas and do some good old-fashioned door knocking because we have to, for the good of America, we have to get him out of office.”

Adams’ solution is to elect the same kind of people who made the problem worse in the first place, not shut the border down. O’Rourke is the kind of guy who claims the border is safe when it demonstrably isn’t. O’Rourke is the same guy proclaiming that “hell yes” he’s going to take our guns in the midst of a migrant-infused crime wave.

As a Texan, I can tell you this: If Adams sends New Yorkers to knock on doors here in Texas in order to campaign for O’Rourke, you’re only going to prove what we already suspect. It’s pretty clear that many New Yorkers in leftist circles don’t understand the problem on the ground. They’re too wrapped up in their elitist bubble to truly comprehend how horrible this crisis is. It’ll only prove to us Texans that ignorant coastals really do believe they have light shining out of their asses and undeservedly so.

It’s my hope that these New Yorkers will be greeted by Texas residents politely, but I can tell you that there will be quite a few who will wish to school these elitists on what reality looks like, and given what many people in Texas have experienced, it probably won’t be a nice lesson.

Adams should learn the lessons that Abbott is teaching him. He’s getting a mere taste of the chaos and carnage Texas has to deal with on a much grander scale. If he knew better, he’d be horrified, not willing to use this as a political tool to get a Democrat elected in a state he doesn’t live in. This border crisis shouldn’t be political, but the left is making it so.

Texans are aware of this, and they feel it more.
