Yelp has announced it will pay for employees’ travel costs to obtain an abortion outside of their home state.
This protest was against the Texas and Oklahoma abortion restrictions.
“We’ve long been a strong advocate for equality in the workplace, and believe that gender equality cannot be achieved if women’s healthcare rights are restricted,” Miriam Warren, Yelp’s chief diversity officer, said of the decision.
A report from CBS’s San Francisco station stated that Yelp has approximately 4,000 employees and 200 employees in Texas.
Citigroup announced that it would cover employees’ travel costs to and from the United States for abortions performed in this country earlier this year.
Citi stated at that time, “In response to changing reproductive healthcare laws within certain states in America, we provide travel benefits beginning in 2022 to facilitate access to adequate resource,” Citi added.
