On the 78th anniversary of D-Day’s onset, the White House didn’t issue an official proclamation from the President. This would have been the second consecutive year.
Joe Biden, President, did not tweet anything about the courageous men who stormed Normandy’s beaches.
“Today, we mark 78 years since D-Day and honor those who answered duty’s call on the beaches of Normandy,” the tweet said. “We must never forget their service and sacrifice in defense of freedom, and we must strive every day to live up to the ideals they fought to defend.”
The generic statement should have been sent at 8:45 AM instead of waiting. The White House is now questioned by many whether their communications team lost the memo, something which can’t be ruled out considering the circumstances.
Jacqui Heinrich of Fox News pointed out that all three former presidents, Barack Obama and George W. Bush declared D-Day. This is odd and disrespectful. Surprisingly, Biden was actually present on D-Day. This is in contrast to his previous predecessors.

As if this was not enough of a slap in the face to veterans already, here are the other celebration’s the president has proclaimed for the entire month of June, according to the White House website:
National Immigrant Heritage Month
National Caribbean-American Heritage Month
National Ocean Month
National Homeownership Month
LGBTQI Pride Month
Great Outdoors Month
Black Music Month
Unfortunately, this was not enough to offer the sacrifices of those who gave their lives for our country’s fight against fascism one day. Sure, Memorial Day was on May 30, but that’s no excuse. Many Americans were killed that day. It is important to remember their sacrifices.
According to the Associated Press, although the number of D-Day veterans who are alive seems to be declining rapidly, there is still some.
The White House will apologize to them and their families as well as those who lost loved ones during or after D-Day. This country treats veterans as second-class citizens, so the President should at least declare a Day of Remembrance.
Americans have set a low bar for Biden’s administration and yet, they continue to fall short of their expectations in nearly all areas. Although it should not be difficult for the White House to respect elderly veterans, they managed to make things worse.
