Brian Stelter is angry that Fox Newsmax and Newsmax have refused to show hours of prime time propaganda from the liberal-stacked House February 6 committee. Stelter is the only person who can make you a news channel. If Stelter doesn’t follow his orders, it’s considered a “broken news environment”. Stelter described conservative channels even as an “schism” from news orthodoxy.
Forcing someone to cover something doesn’t sound very small-d democratic. This is true if you think you have the final say on what constitutes democracy. Conservatives are somehow anti-democracy, so they can’t serve on the 1/6 committee, and if they describe the committee as “illegitimate,” it just proves they are ruthlessly breaking the media.
Do we need to compile a list listing all hearings that CNN skipped? We should also show Brian the places where CNN skips hearings, either for analysis or advertising purposes. Oliver Darcy was Stelter’s friend last October. He complained to Fox that Fox wasn’t covering the 1/6 committee looking into Steve Bannon. Darcy complained that Fox wasn’t covering the 1/6 committee going after Steve Bannon two days later. Excessive coverageAt a hearing, Republicans were feisty towards Attorney General Merrick Grland.
