UPDATE: Chris Wallace Announces He’s Leaving ‘Fox News Sunday,’ Going to CNN

UPDATE: Mediaite reports that Chris Wallace, who left Fox News Sunday and Fox News Monday to join CNN, has been replaced by Variety and Mediaite. More information is available below.

His show comes to an end. Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace announced that after 18 years, he would be leaving his show to cryptically pursue an endeavor “beyond politics” and for his own interests. An endeavor he described as a “new adventure.”

“Finally, a personal note,” he declared after speaking about an experimental medical treatment using pig organs for human transplants. “After 18 years. “This is the last Fox News Sunday. It is the last time – and I say this with real sadness – we will meet like this.”

Wallace didn’t seem to be bitter or angry with his employer. He actually praised his bosses because he was able to run the show as he desired.

Fox bosses promised 18 years ago that they wouldn’t interfere with guests I had booked and questions I asked. That promise was kept. To report on the important stories that I believe are most significant, I am free to do so.

He remembered and thanked the audience.

It has been an amazing ride. Five presidential elections have been covered and we’ve interviewed each president since George H. W. Bush. We sat down together with Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron in France as we toured around the globe.

It’s been a pleasure to have spent Sunday mornings together. Although it may seem corny, I believe we have built a sense of community together. You can do a lot on Sunday mornings. It’s something that I treasure, the fact that you chose to spend an hour with me.

“But after 18 years, I have decided to leave Fox. It’s time to do something different. I want to explore all of the interests I have beyond politics. It’s a great adventure. And I hope you’ll check it out,” he said. “And so, for the last time, dear friends, that’s it for today have a great week. And I hope you’ll keep watching Fox News Sunday.”

Wallace’s recent years with the network were a bit of a mixed bag. The October 2020 issue will be the last. Wallace complained on Fox News Channel about former President Trump’s conduct during the debate he moderated, equating it to Trump stomping on his cake:

It was like I’d gathered all the ingredients. It was a beautiful, tasty cake that I baked. And then the President brought his feet up. That was irritating because — frustrating to me because I worked hard for a serious conversation.

However, he also held the Democrats responsible. In April Pete Buttigieg was his Transportation Secretary. about President Biden’s proposed infrastructure slush fund. Asking, “Why mislead folks” about how many jobs it will create?

Also, he called out President Biden’s machinations and the radical Democrats who are behind them “anti-constitutional” and “bone-headed” Pack the Supreme Court.

You can find out more at To report from Variety, “A person familiar with the matter suggested Wallace may be jumping to CNN Plus.” This was later Mediaite confirms. “Chris Wallace is leaving Fox News. He is set to join CNN’s soon-to-launch streaming platform CNN+, as first reported by Variety and confirmed by Mediaite,” wrote Joe DePaolo.
