Chris Wallace Abruptly Announces He’s Leaving ‘Fox News Sunday’

His show comes to an end. Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace announced that after 18 years, he would be leaving his show to cryptically pursue an endeavor “beyond politics” and for his own interests. An endeavor he described as a “new adventure.”

“Finally, a personal note,” he declared after speaking about an experimental medical treatment using pig organs for human transplants. “After 18 years. It is my last Fox News Sunday. It is the last time – and I say this with real sadness – we will meet like this.”

Wallace didn’t seem to be bitter or angry with his employer. He actually praised his bosses because he was able to run the show as he desired.

Fox bosses promised 18 years ago that they wouldn’t interfere with guests I had booked and questions I asked. They kept their word. They kept their promise. I was free to tell the truth, and to bring the leaders of our nation to justice.

He remembered and thanked the audience.

It’s been great. Five presidential elections have been covered and we’ve interviewed each president since George H. W. Bush. We sat down in France with Emmanuel Macron, and Russia’s Vladimir Putin as we toured the globe.

You’ve allowed me to share Sunday mornings with them. Although it may seem corny, I believe we have built a sense of community together. You can do a lot on Sunday mornings. This hour spent with us is something that I will always treasure.

“But after 18 years, I have decided to leave Fox. It’s time to do something different. I want to explore all of the interests I have beyond politics. It’s a great adventure. And I hope you’ll check it out,” he said. “And so, for the last time, dear friends, that’s it for today have a great week. And I hope you’ll keep watching Fox News Sunday.”

Wallace’s recent years with the network were a bit of a mixed bag. This October, 2020. Wallace complained on Fox News Channel about former President Trump’s conduct during the debate he moderated, equating it to Trump stomping on his cake:

It was like I’d gathered all the ingredients. It was a beautiful and tasty cake that I made. Then, quite frankly, the President stepped in. That was frustrating because — frustrating to me because I worked hard for a serious conversation.

However, he also held the Democrats responsible. In April He confronted Pete Buttigieg, Transportation Secretary. about President Biden’s proposed infrastructure slush fund. Asking, “Why mislead folks” about how many jobs it will create?

He called out President Biden’s machinations and the radical Democrats who are behind them. “anti-constitutional” and “bone-headed” Plan to fill the Supreme Court.

His new venture is not yet known, but CNN knows that they have been building up their talent pool to push the new CNN+ subscription. Only time will tell if that’s where he resurfaces.
