Tulsi Gabbard Shreds Kamala Harris Over Hypocritical Position on Brittney Griner – Opinion

Tulsi Gabbard was a former Hawaii Democrat congresswoman who in one of history’s greatest presidential debates, destroyed the hopes for Kamala Harris. She continues to pursue the Vice President because of her deplicitous approach towards justice. Harris said that basketball player Brittney Griner, currently sentenced to nine years in a Russian prison on a marijuana conviction, is being held in a “wrongful detention” and should be “released immediately.”

Harris is known for her zealous prosecution of low-level drug offenses. Harris was also a vocal critic of cannabis legalization while she was California Attorney General. However, Harris has not been passionate about the U.S. prisoners on similar convictions.

Gabbard called her out on Fox News Friday.

In the clip above, she says:

Another note of hypocrisy coming from Kamala Harris and this administration is you mentioned during her illustrious record as attorney general in California…she kept prisoners in prison longer than their sentences…

Kamala tweeted a support statement for Griner on August 4.

With today’s sentencing, Russia continues its wrongful detention of Brittney Griner. It is imperative that she be freed immediately. @POTUS We, along with our whole Administration, work every day to reunite Brittney and Paul Whelan with their loved ones.

Gabbard wasn’t having it:

Is your anger for fellow Americans currently in American prison for minor marijuana offenses? You aren’t fighting the same for Brittney Griner and their families to return home.

Nine years for carrying a cannabis vape pen is a lot, but anyone who’s heard of the movie Midnight ExpressHe understands the USA does not exist in other countries. It is my bet that the Russians realize they possess a tradeable asset, and will make an agreement with the Biden Administration to exchange prisoner.

Gabbard accuses the VP, further, of using a different standard.

Unfortunately, like too many politicians, it seems that she puts her finger to the wind and decides the things she’s supposed to be angry about on any given day and if it becomes politically inconvenient or damaging then she’ll switch the other way.

This isn’t the first time Tulsi has crossed paths with Harris. As I mentioned, she pretty much single-handedly dealt a death blow to Kamala’s 2020 presidential run with this viral debate moment:

Tulsi wasn’t the only one piling on. You can find many tweets similar to this one:

Brittney Griner’s nine-year sentence does seem draconian, but Gabbard is absolutely right for calling out Harris on her hypocritical positions over time. Kamala’s convictions, like those of her boss Joe Biden, change with the prevailing political winds.
