Unbelievable? Nope. No.
A Jewish group at the liberal City University of New York (CUNY) has a plan to push the Jewish student population to “unlearn” ZionismYou must end your support for Israel. Before we continue, here’s a short explanation of Zionism, via the Jewish Visual Library
The term “Zionism” was coined in 1890 by Nathan Birnbaum. The term “Zionism” can be defined as the movement to return the Jewish people back to their homeland, and for Jewish sovereignty in Israel.
Zionism was created in 1948 with the creation of the State of Israel. It now includes the movement to develop the State of Israel as well as protection of Israel’s Jewish people through the Israel Defense Forces.
Zionism has been a champion of tangible and spiritual goals since its inception. Jews of all persuasions – left, right, religious and secular – formed the Zionist movement and worked together toward its goals.
There were many forms and variations of Zionism over time due to philosophical differences. Notable are: Political Zionism; Religious Zionism. Socialist Zionism. Territorial Zionism.
Zionism has now become a “4-letter” word, liberally used by pro-Palestinian, anti-Israeli activists.
As reported by Jewish News Syndicate, “Not In Our Name: an anti-Zionist Jewish Coalition at CUNY” (NIONCUNY) also plans to get Jewish students to create “their own Jewish identity” in solidarity with Palestinian liberation activists, and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS Movement).
Translation: “Unlearn” the truth about your ancestral home, buy the lies and propaganda of a people who said, in various iterations, they will not rest until Israel, the only democratic country in the most dangerous region in the world, is “pushed into the sea” — the same people who support terrorist groups that indiscriminately fire rockets into Israeli neighborhood, with zero provocation.
NIONCUNY denounced Zionism within the university system and challenged the relationship between Zionism and Judaism — all counter to the views of a majority of Jews, including in America. It also “wholeheartedly” endorsed the BDS movement, according to a statement.
We strongly oppose the Zionist movement in CUNY, which aims to criminalize or demonize Palestinian workers and students.
Additionally, we oppose Zionist liberal entities who falsely claim they are anti-Zionist while they apologise to Israeli settler-colonial rulership.
It is believed that the propaganda was vehemently supported. JewsSupporting a family who has lived for many decades and died to destroy Israel remains nearly incomprehensible; even in today’s world where right becomes wrong and wrong becomes right.
Then again, with a Democrat Party — beginning in earnest with then-President Barack Obama and continuing with the current occupant of the White House — throwing Israel under the bus at every opportunity in deference to the Palestinians, what should we expect?
Continue reading the NIONCUNY statement:
Our coalition is dominated by the voices of the Palestinians. We stand behind their calls for world liberation, resistance to all means, the right to return for Palestinian refugees and the return to Palestine of all land that was not occupied before 1948. As defined by Palestinians, we commit to Palestinian liberation. These principles can’t be negotiable.
The Zionist movement in CUNY, which aims to demonize and criminalize Palestinian workers and students, is something we strongly oppose. Additionally, we oppose Zionist liberal entities who falsely claim they are anti-Zionist while they apologise for Israeli settler colonial control.

We are proud to be Jewish and reject any attempt to link Zionism with Judaism. Zionism is a political ideology that has existed for 150 years, influenced by European colonialism and ethnic nationalism.
[Zionism]This ideology continues to justify and encourage acts of genocide, ethnic cleansing and other crimes against the Palestinian people. It also targets Palestinians worldwide. All this is supported by United States imperialism.
Jeffrey Lax, an Orthodox Jewish business professor at CUNY’s Kingsborough Community College, told JNS that NIONCUNY is small, but represents a dangerous trend.
I’m confident the group isn’t indicative of the overwhelming majority of Jewish people at CUNY or in the world, but, of course, I’m concerned because it’s the very loud, radical, militant view that caused problems for so many.
Let’s get to the bottom of it:
If history has taught us anything, it’s that small radical groups with militant views that go unchallenged ultimately commit terrible enough evils that FinallyYou can either shock one country or the whole world into action. The question then becomes, were those actions in time — or too late?
Let’s hope and pray we don’t find ourselves in this difficult position. AnyRadical movements that threaten America, as it is now, and on a greater scale might threaten global power balance in general.
Joe Biden may say that groups are what make America great. Do “eat our lunch.”
