Former President Donald Trump called Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney’s decisive defeat “wonderful” for America in a post to Truth Social on Tuesday night.
Cheney has been vocal in his opposition to the ex-president, while Harriet Hageman won the Republican primary and is now endorsed by him.
“Congratulations to Harriet Hageman on her great and very decisive WIN in Wyoming,” Trump said.
“This is a wonderful result for America, and a complete rebuke of the Unselect Committee of political Hacks and Thugs. Liz Cheney ought to be ashamed for her behavior and the sanctimonious, spiteful words and actions she took towards others. It is now that she can disappear into the political depths where, I am certain, she will feel much more content than she does right now. Thank you WYOMING!”

Although Trump and Cheney were once allies, they have fallen out of favor since January 6, 2021. Cheney currently serves as vice chair of House Select Committee for investigation into the riot. Outgoing Rep. Adam Kinzinger is the only Republican on the panel.
Cheney was elected for the first time in 2017. She was the Chair of the House Republican Conference between 2019 and 2021, when she was reelected.
