RedState will perform quick analyses of the situation throughout the night.
As of now, it’s too close to call, but Glenn Youngkin is doing well in the areas he needed to do well in to have a shot at beating Terry McAuliffe. Fairfax County announced that it would delay reporting on many issues. But, this could change.
Here’s an idea of where things stand at the halfway point.
Youngkin has huge margins of victory in rural VA. He is also making great strides in the suburbs. I was surprised at how Youngkin did among early voters in person. Youngkin is in control of the race right now. #VAGOV

Another great SW result for Youngkin: Wythe (98% reporting per DDHQ) – 84-16 GY, 11k votes cast. That was 74-25 with 8.5k votes in 2017. Northam won 9 to 1, so GY was looking for approximately 10-pt improvement (which he did)

Loudoun Co. – Up to 128k votes have been counted. McAuliffe wins there by 53%-47%. McAuliffe better hope for a huge showing in the remaining VBM, but Youngkin performed *much* better than I expected w/ the early vote. Advantage: Youngkin. #VAGOV

Northumberland Co., Northern Neck, Rural: Youngkin had to win by 26% according to my benchmarks. It is won by Youngkin, who wins by 29% with a higher turnout than anticipated. #VAGOV

The picture is unchanged now at 888 Precincts. Youngkin is still slightly ahead of his targets. This includes almost everywhere in the state.
The needle would point his way if it were on the internet. pic.twitter.com/s0V2I1uPtl— Nate Cohn (@Nate_Cohn) November 2, 2021
Youngkin is 15 points ahead of Trump at the City of Manassas. (almost completely in)

Twitter has many analysts and smart people. Although it is not appropriate to call race here, it is obvious that this event in Virginia has become a huge GOP party. #VAGovernor

Youngkin wins Chesterfield County by almost 11 points Biden won 2020 by 5 points. This is a 16 point swing.

Culpeper County saw a Republican win that was like nothing I’ve seen before.
With 100% of votes in, this is.
Trump was only 20 points ahead in this area last year.
Youngkin just won it by over 33…. pic.twitter.com/ZLnaCulb81

Culpeper – Youngkin had to win it by 30 percent, according my benchmarks. It is won by him 34%. #VAGOV

*aren’t really any bright spots

Loudoun Co. – McAuliffe led up to 55%-44% with mail ballots reporting. McAuliffe was required to win the election by 14%, according to my benchmarks. #VAGOV

As of now, you’d rather be Youngkin than Terry McAuliffe, but it’s not over until it’s over. RedState will continue to provide coverage of the event as it drags on.
