There Is One Thing Biden Could Do To End The Pandemic In America For Good – Opinion

The Biden administration continues to struggle with narrative and reality as the pandemic they promised to “shut down” rages on. Well, it’s been raging on for the legacy media and their progressive followers. For the rest of us it’s been winding down for quite some time now, although the political class still clearly hasn’t received the message.

Mr. Biden promised that when he took office he would do what President Trump couldn’t do…he would defeat the virus. It’s been nothing but a tragic comedy of errors since the first day of his tenure. The virus stubbornly refuses to go away despite a series of non-constitutional executive orders and mandates to federal workers to use masks and vaccines. There has also been coercion and shame in an effort to make businesses comply with mandates.

There is one thing Biden has yet to do in an effort to stop this epidemic from spreading across America. Frankly, I’m surprised it wasn’t tried on day one.

Joe Biden could end the pandemic in an instant by…

…just saying it’s over.

This sounds simple because it really is.

The legacy media owns the lion’s share of the bully pulpit these days, and whether or not they truly believe every tidbit coming out of the White House, they are committed to reporting it as the gospel truth. Left-wingers will purchase anything that comes from a Democrat’s mouth.

Look at how easily Joe Biden lies when he’s in front of a microphone, without question from the media (with the delightful exception of professional thorn-in-the-side, Peter Doocy). Biden lied about the small kitchen fire, saying it almost burned down their house with his wife inside. Biden claimed that he was close to an Amtrak employee who died in a year. He also lied that he had been arrested while protesting South African apartheid. He lied that he was a passenger in a helicopter which was downed in Afghanistan. Why do Democrat personalities choose to tell this lie? He’s lied about his academic record, his congressional record, and even said he marched during the Civil Rights era. He didn’t.

The legacy media, with a few exceptions, has not shown any curiosity in the absurd and proven false claims. The ones who did report on his lies very politely named them “factually challenged” stories.

Joe is the one who speaks for all media. He could say that gas prices have dropped dramatically and that progressive bubble-dwellers and media cheer it. COVID can still be a threat, and they will all cower and demand the suspension of civil liberties. He can say there’s not crisis at the border and they nod their heads. He can say he’s the reason we developed our COVID vaccines so quickly and they report it as gospel. He could also say that Florida and Texas prolong the pandemic while reporting huge successes in treatment, transmission rates, and plummeting hospitalizations. It doesn’t matter. This is because the legacy media only tells the tale, and not the truth. They sell it to their clients without any hesitation.

Remember the “Afghanistan death count” chyron on CNN? It was commonplace during Bush’s years. Before the left thought Bush was just a sweet old friend of the Obamas who likes to paint pictures, they thought he was Literally Hitler™. To remind us how cruel and cruel he was, the death count was created. When Obama became president, it vanished along with any concern about what was happening in Afghanistan. When Afghanistan became Obama’s war, it disappeared off the front pages on a daily basis and left-wing Americans forgot to be outraged about it.

What would happen if tomorrow the media stopped reporting on COVID case counts and hysterically profiling variants that don’t seem to be unmanageable? Imagine if the media treated COVID in America tomorrow in the same way that they did the 2009 swine influenza epidemic.

I’ll tell you what would happen, if you haven’t already guessed.

It would all go away. As in 2009, everybody would have a COVID victim. People would share their experiences, get help if they needed it and then move on to their daily lives. COVID has become a media malpractice pandemic. This is media malpractice.

Given the lockstep nature of the progressive left, it would take but a word from Biden and the pandemic – much like the Afghanistan death count – would drop from the lead story on the usual suspect networks. Biden could claim credit for Florida’s and Texas’ great achievements, much like he claimed credit for the vaccine. He could boast about how executive orders and his mandates really worked. With his quick action, he could speak about how many lives were saved. He could spend the next three years campaigning on his administration’s roaring success in ending the pandemic in America.

It wouldn’t matter if it’s true (and of course it’s not). They’d believe him regardless. As we know, the legacy media can pivot at will. The same people who said they’d never take a vaccine touted by the Trump administration are now the same people screaming bloody murder at people who hold the same position they did mere months ago. So we needn’t worry about intellectual honesty getting in the way.

It’s really a simple fix for the Democrats and it is perplexing that they haven’t already tried this.
