Conservatives are well aware of what Democrat politicians’ calls for “civility” and a “new tone” in politics really mean.
For those who aren’t familiar with what that means, the short version is that Democrats would rather Republicans shut up and play nice while Democrats get loud and nasty as they try to ram their radical agenda through state legislatures and Congress.
We’ve seen this play out numerous times in our nation’s history, with one of the more recent instances coming from America’s worst mayor – Chicago’s Lori Lightfoot (D) – during a press conference held Tuesday in response to the horrifying Highland Park Independence Day mass shooting in Illinois that killed seven, including the parents of a 2-year-old child, and injured 38.
During the presser, Lightfoot talked about how “toxic” the public discourse had become over the years and noted that it’s “a thing that I think we should all be concerned about” in light of the mass shooting and attacks on law enforcement:
Speaking at an event on Tuesday, Lightfoot decried attacks on police officers in her city, suggesting it’s a sign of people “losing respect for the institutions of our democracy.”
“That says to me that the people who are acting so brazenly have no not only no respect for themselves, but they don’t have respect for the institution like the police department, who men and women every single day on every watch, are literally risking life and limb for our safety,” Lightfoot said.
“But toxicity in our public discourse is a thing that I think we should all be concerned about, right?” Lightfoot added.
It was a sharp about-face for Mayor Lightfoot considering that not only is she well-known for being an absolute tyrant when it comes to her staff, but a week prior she spouted “F**k Clarence Thomas!” during a Pride event in response to the Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe V. Wade.
Lightfoot, who was not willing to apologize for her comments at that time, actually made fun of Thomas’s remarks. To show her support for her remarks, she also posted the photo to her twitter page.

Greg Pratt, a Chicago Tribune reporter who has covered Lightfoot for years, noted the hypocrisy and then included a quip about how Lightfoot believes she was justified in contradicting herself because Thomas she believes Thomas “deserves it”:
At news conference, Mayor Lori Lightfoot again laments the “toxicity” of our public discourse… days after saying “Fuck Clarence Thomas!” To that end, she cited the “deserves” clause to explain what kind of discourse was acceptable.

You can see the contrast between her speech at the press conference and her cursing Thomas during the LGBT events. It perfectly captures the two faces Lori Lightfoot has (and also the double-dealing of the Democratic Party in general).
Lori Lightfoot today: “The toxicity in our public discourses is something that we should all be worried about.”

That said, Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez (D) – who is running for mayor – said it best during an interview with Tucker Carlson after Lightfoot said what she did about Thomas by pointing out the fact that “Lori Lightfoot is the embodiment of toxic politics, and she practices it every day.”
Indeed.
