In the wake of several Supreme Court decisions that have not gone progressives’ way – especially where Roe v. Wade and “reproductive rights” are concerned – activists have taken to the streets and once again committed acts of violence against property and people. Antifa has returned to the streets, with Democratic politicians seemingly encouraging it.
Justice Brett Kavanaugh was the target of an assassination plot in the days leading up to these rulings. There has been domestic terror directed at pro-life abortion centers. Many people with mental instability have been encouraged to use dangerously violent language, which encourages them to take risks.
Of course the Left will claim that they fight for their rights. This includes their constitutional rights to reduce gun ownership and freedom of speech. It is clear, however that when we reflect on the independence of our founders from Britain today and look at their struggle for rights and recognition it is obvious that the Left is more agitating than fighting.
It was only a last resort when the colonists declared independence. The colonists considered themselves Englishmen and citizens of Britain. They wanted to be reconciled with their country. But the British saw colonists as less than English citizens. They denied colonists the same rights as any other British resident.
Protesting the existence of America is what progressives do, however. They are not citizens of America. They continuously decry the country’s existence. Everyone around them is aware of their hatred for America. They don’t want to be part of it any more than they think it legitimately exists. It is not a love nor a yearning for the citizens to be part of this country.
They want to re-write the country – from its history to its present – entirely.
Even now, as Americans celebrate the day our Founders broke it off with England, the Left and the government bodies they’ve managed to not lose hold of have attacked the existence of America.
So, when their ability to actually curtail your rights gets stripped away and when their ability to rule via judicial fiat gets overturned, they throw a tantrum, call everything and everyone supporting the system as it is “illegitimate”, and proceed to burn portions of American cities to the ground in what they call “protest.”
When the founders declared their independence, they understood something very important. This was something that they codified later in the Bill of Rights. They looked through history and saw that, in order for there to be freedom and liberty, there have to be universal rights – rights that transcend time and situation, and that are guaranteed no matter the era.
The Founders understood, for instance, that everyone should have the right to own firearms, regardless of technology and time. The left claims that there’s no way the Founders could have imagined how guns would evolve, but the point of the right is that it doesn’t matter how things change. That right is yours forever.
This is contrary to the goals of the left. They don’t want universal rights. They would like to decide your rights. They aren’t fighting for the freedom to kill children in the womb. They want to incite the country into accepting it without restrictions or else. That’s not freedom. That’s not liberty. That’s tyranny.
Colonists in America’s colonies felt they were done and sent a letter to England in 1776. They refused to have a government over the ocean decide which rights they were entitled to. They strongly believed that everyone was entitled to universal rights and freedoms. That is not what today’s progressive movement seeks. They desire to become the British crown around 1776. Don’t let them fool you into thinking otherwise.
