Onlookers fled as shots rang out at a Fourth of July parade near Chicago in Highland Park. While early reports may not be reliable, the latest information shows that at most nine victims were killed.

Police are seeking an assailant who was carrying a backpack in military style, yellow color. At this point, no further details are available.
Highland Park, which is located about 25 miles north of downtown Chicago is an area that is wealthy. It is unlikely that this shooting resulted from the usual gang violence in the neighborhood.
