Jan. 6th will be remembered with all the celebrations and pomp Democrats and all their media allies can conjure.
CNN will host an entire special to mark the occasion, entitled Live at the Capitol: January 6th and One Year Later The show will feature the “heroes who protected our democracy in the face of an insurrection,” and will include interviews with such luminaries as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and January 6 Committee Chair Bennie Thompson, D-Miss.
The President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden are expected to make special remarks in commemoration of Jan. 6, and Pelosi organized many events in honor of the riot.
You might be wondering why Jan. 6, deserves so much attention. One need not downplay the events—the horrifying image of rioters bashing police officers with metal poles, storming through the halls of Congress shouting for then-Vice President Mike Pence—in order to recognize Jan. 6 for what it was: an ugly but not pivotal moment in American history.
The event resulted in one direct death—rioter Ashli Babbitt was shot by a Capitol Police officer—and some $1.5 million in property damage to the Capitol building.
Pence, then-Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell presided over the certification for the 2020 election. The Capitol was evacuated and those who broke in or trespassed were taken to jail.
Contrarily, however, the Black Lives Matter Riots of 2020 caused $2 billion of insured property damage and likely billions more uninsured damage, two dozen deaths, and the resultant movement against police resulted to a unprecedented spike in the number major city homicides.
There have not been any CNN commemorations, speeches by Harris or Biden, nor a day to honor the officers who kept rioters under control.
So what is behind Democratic media obsessiveness with Jan. 6 in the Democratic Media? It’s political opportunism.
Democrats aren’t even hiding the ball. Faced with the increasingly likely prospect of a 2022 election wipeout, Democrats came up with a strategy. They will rig the electoral system and take down traditional democratic institutions to prevent Republicans from manipulating the electoral process and taking over traditional Democratic institutions.
Jan. 6 is an excuse for the opportunist Democrats to make use of the whole weight of the party in order to force a fundamental revision to the Senate rules.
As Politico reported this week, “Democrats are hoping that Thursday will be more than just a day of remembrance. In the Senate, we hear from well-positioned sources, there’s a desire to take the opportunity to supercharge the party’s long-stalled voting rights legislation—possibly even using the anniversary to try to get Sens. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., and Joe Manchin, D-W.Va, to go nuclear on the filibuster or embrace rules changes.”
To prevent future events like Jan. 6, the electoral village should be set on fire. It is as follows: The New York Times editorialized, “Every Day Is January 6 Now,” arguing, “the Capitol riot continues in statehouses across the country, in a bloodless, legalized form that no police officer can arrest and that no prosecutor can try in court.”
One possible response would be to federalize elections procedures, constitutionally granted states. To prohibit the practice of ballot harvesting, long periods for early voting, universal absente ballots and loose voter verification are some of the other options.
It all started with Jan.
Maybe because Democrats see the writing on the walls, they are aware that November 2022 will be here soon. They hope Americans will not be intimidated by the idea of Jan. 6, and they’ll allow them to wield power, break rules and revise voting procedures.
It won’t work. However, it will reveal the true nature of Democrats and just how much they care about Jan. 6, to Americans.
