The COVID-19 epidemic has had a devastating effect on the cruise industry. But, they have suffered a lot from their own pain, caused by their inability to follow the pointless federal regulations. That has most noticeably manifested itself in the implementation of so-called “vaccine passports.”
Vaccine passports don’t actually do anything. New York City does not have only a vaccine passport, they also have an official vaccine mandate. As of writing, New York City is still the leader in new coronavirus infections. But the fact that everyone spreads COVID — and that vaccine passports made no sense — is not new information.
When Gov. The Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis stood against such measures. But the cruise ship industry not only laughed at him, but they also actively opposed him in court. Instead of following the data, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and others bent the knee to Joe Biden, even when they weren’t legally required to.
They are going to learn the hard way why this was such a huge mistake. Omicron has been spreading all over the place, and now the CDC recommends against boarding cruise ships.

The cruise company companies have been stuck. The two-year-olds insisted that the CDC was right and they bowed before the federal authorities. Instead of working together with DeSantis’ governors to save their companies, they took the White House side. The White House and executive agencies have abandoned them.
Perhaps I’m just too into schadenfreude, but you love to see it.
Had these cruise ship companies initially sided with Florida and Texas, noting that the CDC wasn’t following the data or managing risk properly, they could now be in the position to heap scorn on this latest, nonsensical dictate. They are now stuck in the hands of federal bureaucracy and have chosen to be there. Opportunists will attack them if they protest the CDC.
The question now is whether these companies will actually make changes in their behaviour. I wouldn’t count on it. Large corporations are nothing if they aren’t cowardly. They’ll take this on the chin and shovel more money into Democrat coffers when the time comes, always thinking they can buy enough favor to not be destroyed in the end. They will pay a much higher price than if they took a stand.
Republicans were ready to back them but they supported the wrong horse. Their bottom line and good fortune to them, so yeah.
