Douglas Brinkley, a historian is horrible at using historical analogies. He confused January 6 footage with Holocaust footage ten days back: “But, we have film footage from what happened January 6, and we have evidence. Dwight Eisenhower made sure that all Holocaust camps were recorded during World War II.
CBS has a great deal to offer despite and/or because of this. Sunday MorningHe came on board to politicize Martin Luther King Day. His bold suggestion that voting rights are slipping back to segregationist times was not unheard of. It is so complicated for Americans to vote. This shouldn’t be. It is not more important in a democracy free from arbitrary voting rights. The equation’s really simple: No universal voting rights, no democracy.”
His old black-and white footage showed Selma voting-rights demonstrations and police beating them. President Lyndon Johnson gave a major speech to Congress, quoting the inspirational “We Shall Overcome.”
Douglas Brinkley (historian and hack of the Democratic Party) smeared big-time on CBS’s Sunday Morning “News”:
Voting Rights Act: The GOP will be removing it from the ballot (don’t pay attention to any court rulings). “Sound familiar? This should. This is the new Jim Crow. pic.twitter.com/UtAxKYQ8CR

BRINKLEY. The Voting Rights Bill of 1965 was signed into law in a short time. This Act included many provisions to ensure that all elections, federal, state and local, would be fair, free and inclusive of all races. It was an act of freedom that proved successful over the next years.
This historic accomplishment is now being demolished in 2022. Republican-controlled state legislatures are passing laws that impede voter registration, reduce early voting hours, cut the number of polling places in urban areas, limit mail-in and dropbox voting, and politicizeThis is how elections work. Meanwhile, G.O.P. The G.O.P. has been gerrymandering legislative districts to try and lock in Republican control at state level. Do you find this familiar? This should. It is now the new Jim Crow.
CBS has not asked anyone to review these scripts to see if they can compare the current Republican legislative plans to segregationism, literacy tests or poll taxes to CBS. It’s funny to see liberals claim suddenly that voting rights have been “politicized” instead of being used in a liberal scare campaign to win minority voters.
CBS and other “news” networks don’t tell their viewers much about the contents of the bills. Washington Post Glenn Kessler, Fact Checker, at least described red-state bills’ contents. He also failed to make a joke about Jim Crow smears.
CBS won’t allow a rebuttal, as Kessler quoted Georgia’s response: “Many of the provisions of SB 202 that DOJ calls ‘discriminatory’ and even ‘racist’ are the law in many states, including Delaware, New York, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Maryland, and Wisconsin,” the complaint says. “Yet DOJ is not suing those states, nor has it sued others controlled by Democrats that have laws far more restrictive than Georgia’s.”
Brinkley ended by sounding almost like a commercial for Democrats pushing the John Lewis bill.
BRINKLEY – This is why Dr. King’s holiday national rallying call should be, “Remember Selma”. Keep in mind the sacrifices that were made to ensure voting rights for every American today. Remember John Lewis, another great civil rights leader who was beaten on Bloody Sunday by the police and under whose banner Democrats seek to pass The Voting Rights Advancement Bill. We are moving, as Dr. King stated so strongly in 1965.
MARTIN LUTHER KING Clip: We are not stopped by racism.
CBS is going to go commercial with the assertion that 2022’s Republicans are essentially a “wave” of racism. This ad was for Novo Nordisk Ozempic. You will be told by drug makers that the medication may cause vomiting or nausea. CBS commentators are not required to disclose vomiting.
