Now it has been 22 days since an anti-Semitic, bigoted criminal drove his SUV into the parade in Wisconsin and killed six. However, networks stopped talking about Darrell Brooks shortly after the Waukesha killings. The story was abandoned by ABC, CBS and NBC completely on December 7.
Brooks shared online memes stating that “Hitler was right.” He also hates white people, threatening, “we start bakk knokkin white people TF out. [sic]” Did the networks investigate this? No. No.
ABC was able to do it on the same day. Good Morning America. CBS deemed it to be CBS MorningsNBC’s final mention was on the Nightly News. The networks shunned the hatred of Jews at that point.
Instead, journalists like CBS Mornings co-host Tony Dokoupil allowed only the barest of details on November 24: “The alleged driver, 39-year-old Darrell Brooks, appeared in court yesterday as well.” Alex Perez promised “details on the suspect accused of plowing his SUV through crowds at a Christmas parade.” He added, “Darrell Brooks shackled in court Tuesday.” But Perez didn’t provide any facts about what might have been the motivation.
The November 24 NBC Nightly News, Megan Megan Fitzgerald stated that “court records reveal more about Darrell Brooks’s alleged actions.” Motive and hate? NBC didn’t have anything.
Below are Brooks’s last mentioned works:
Darrell Brooks was dropped by the networks on November 24, 2021.
After November 25, CBS completely dropped coverage of the Waukesha murders. The Waukesha killings were last covered by ABC and NBC in December 20, 2021. The act of murder seemed to have become self-driving by that point. The 7th of December Today,Tom Llamas was adamant about the SUV’s behavior:
The Dancing Grannies have been spinning and twisting their way to the hearts of Wisconsin for decades. Just weeks ago, however, this beloved dance group made national headlines. An out-of control SUV crashed into the Waukesha Christmas Parade.
CBS Mornings previewed the blame-the-car talking point back on November 24. Dokoupil insisted, “There is now a sixth victim after an SUV barreled through a holiday parade.”
Similar attempts to hide the name of Darrell Brooks happened on cable. As the MRC’s Bill D’Agostino reported, CNN stopped mentioning him on November 24 and MSNBC on November 30th.
Brooks has a history of ranting about “fake Jews” and sharing quotes claiming the “negroes are the real children of Israel.” He’s also advocated for violence against white people in rage-filled posts.
Are there any networks involved in this mess? You can only assume they simply don’t care about some attacks of hate and terror.
