Spice Girls’ Lesbian Sex Revelations Praised by LGBT Community

A former Spice Girl’s revelations this week that she had lesbian sex with one of her bandmates is sparking praise from social media commenters and causing some in the LGBT community to hold up the British girl group as role models for gender fluidity.

43-year-old Mel B, aka Scary Spice, claimed during filming for British television show “Piers Morgan’s Life Stories” that she had sex with Geri Halliwell during their band’s ’90s heyday and that Ginger Spice had “great boobs.”

“We were best friends. It just happened,” she said. Mel B declined to answer whether her experience with Halliwell was “good” or not.

“She is going to hate me for this because she is all posh in her country house and her husband, but it’s a fact,” she added. “It just happened and we just giggled at it and that was it.”

The openly bisexual former “America’s Got Talent” judge also admitted to kissing bandmate Mel C, aka Sporty Spice. Social media users greeted her comments with shock and approval.

Mel B’s confession seemed to be particularly well-received by members of the LGBT community, many of whom viewed it as a welcome sign of societal progress toward the acceptance of gender fluidity and queer identity.

“On this auspicious day where we learn two of the Spice Girls hooked up, I have to say sometimes it is great to be bisexual in a generation where open sexual fluidity is quickly becoming a norm,” tweeted Los Angeles-based screenwriter Jessica Ellis.

“It’s really something to have grown up with the entrenched mindset of ‘oh Jesus, I am broken and dirty because of this and then find out that THE SPICE GIRLS WERE ALSO MAKING OUT WITH EACH OTHER,” she said in a followup tweet. And in another she celebrated the Spice Girls’ message: “You don’t *need* to submit a concrete sexual orientation in triplicate to some imaginary bureau of absolute truth. Kiss whoever you wanna kiss(if they want to kiss you , too.) It’s so fun.”

Meanwhile, a self-described “Poly-paraphilic porno-cosmopolitan flâneur-poseur” lavished praise on Mel B’s queer-friendly philosophy.

I swear in the 1990s an interviewer said every girl had a Spice Girls poster by their bed, & @OfficialMelB said, "Yeah, we're turning all the girls in the world lesbian."

Mel B was joking. But she made an great point.

Interestingly, progressive-minded LGBT advocates weren’t the only ones celebrating the news. In an illustration of the  ideological tensions that sometimes surface in progressive doctrine, men on Twitter reacted in ways that many feminists would likely characterize as sexist. Kevin Clancy, who works for a media outlet progressives have condemned as blatantly “misogynistic,” tweeted in support of Mel B’s comments.

I dont know if people are properly respecting the fact that the Spice Girls were fuckin. That’s pretty wild, man. Would have preferred Posh Spice and Baby Spice. Stunned Sporty Spice wasn’t involved. But nonetheless, I’ll take it. 13 yr old me was dreaming of this shit.

Other men on social media similarly viewed the news as a fulfillment of their male-adolescent sex fantasies. “guys if I were u I would bet on the ravens winning the super bowl and my parents getting back together bc apparently the things I wished for at 11 are coming true now,” wrote comedian and actor Stavros Halkias.
