It was Wednesday morning and there was night one day of difference in how Fox News and MSNBC covered Virginia’s gubernatorial race. Morning Joe bolstered Democratic candidate and ex-Governor Terry McAuliffe as he attacked Republican Glenn Youngkin. Joe Scarborough went as far to call the GOP nominee an “illiberal dictator” using anti-Semitism in his campaign.
Contrary to this, faux-conservative Scarborough ignored the recent embarrassments that hit the McAuliffe campaign. Fox & FriendsThe interview covered the Democratic candidate storming from the interview, his bad record as a governor and illegal campaigning by Vice President Kamala Hariri in a Virginia parish.
Scarborough started the interview taunting Youngkin about not being on the program. The liberal host even played up his allegedly “conservative” credentials to dubiously suggest he would give the Republican an friendly interview:
Your opponent keeps asking to be on the show. It’s strange that he won’t appear on the show. As you know — you watch this show once in a while — I’m a small government conservative, I’m a Second Amendment guy, I’m worried about inflation. It worries me about the big Washington bills. I would think that a true conservative would want to talk about this. Are you avoiding him in Virginia? Is he just scared to speak publicly right now? Was he just afraid to talk publicly right now?
McAuliffe quickly hit the softball with his accusation of Youngkin’s inability to answer questions. He then went on about Youngkin not being willing to debate, before finally admitting that Youngkin actually debated him. McAuliffe had accused Youngkin, who was using George Soros’ wealthy liberal activist name “tinfoil” to describe him as having an anti-Semitic hat. Scarborough went further than McAuliffe in accusing Virginia Republican Scarborough of antisemitism.
If he’s talking about George Soros, that’s the sort of anti-Semitism we see in the United States and across the world. This is what (Viktor Orban) and other illiberal tyrants do in Hungary. They just lie about a Jew — they pick a Jew out — George Soros is that Jew — and so he’s — he’s — he’s playing that old anti-Semitic trope as well.
They continued to pass the Youngkin-bashing torch back and forth as McAuliffe accuses his Republican opponent, McAuliffe, of “racist dogwhistling”, for raising Critical Race Theory in schools. Scarborough responded, “You stated that Critical Race Theory was not taught in Virginia’s public schools.” Is that true, then why would he raise Critical Race Theory in public schools? I don’t understand. It would be a crime if it wasn’t taught in Virginia schools.
McAuliffe claimed that his previous term in office as governor saw homicides rise by 43 percent, but that he governed over the nation’s lowest crime rate. In 2013, the year before he took office, the per capita homicide rate was before the national average, but had increased above the national average by 2017. The national homicide rate had increased by 18 percent.
Also, it is noteworthy that Fox News host Bret Bailey has stated previously that McAuliffe has been invited on to his Fox News show Special ReportDemocrat has failed many times to demonstrate that he is open to tough questioning.
Scarborough challenged Youngkin to moderate the McAuliffe debate, which he said would be “straight down in the middle”, despite the negativity he’d shown McAuliffe throughout the interview.
However, MSNBC’s rivals on Fox New Channel showed footage of McAuliffe abandoning an interview Tuesday because he did not like the questions being asked. They discussed the issue of crime and vice president Harris’s illegal campaigning in church.

MSNBC Morning Joe
October 20, 2021
Eastern, 8:37
JOE SCARBOROUGH: So we keep asking your opponent to come —
GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE (D–VA), TERRY McAULIFFE: Hello Joe.
SCARBOROUGH, We ask our opponent to continue the show.
MIKA BRZEZINSKI : No.
SCARBOROUGH – He will not appear on the show — which is a bit strange for me.
McAULIFFE, Yeah. The guy is scared. McAULIFFE: First, he skipped the debates — the 36-year-old debate — and he didn’t agree to debate me. He got out of every debate. The reason? He does not want to be asked hard questions.
(…)
He held a rally last night. Meetings with small businesses to discuss minimum wage, family, medical, and what to do about paid sick leave. George Soros, Trump’s boogeyman, has organized a rally for him yesterday. George Soros, me and this are running the show — They’re all in their tinfoil heads — It’s getting nutsier every day — But he is an anti-vaxxer. He doesn’t believe that women should have the choice — which makes him very dangerous for Virginia.
SCARBOROUGH: Well, he also — if he’s talking about George Soros, that’s the sort of anti-Semitism we see in the United States and across the world. This is what Orban and other illiberal dictators do in Hungary. They just lie about a Jew — they pick a Jew out — George Soros is that Jew — and so he’s — he’s — he’s playing that old anti-Semitic trope as well.
(…)
McAULIFFE : Glenn Youngkin has used dog whistles since the beginning of his campaign — racist dog whistles. Critical Race Theory is the topic he discusses. Virginia doesn’t teach Critical Race Theory. This is an offensive dog whistle. It’s a racist whistle.
(…)
SCARBOROUGH : Interesting. It was stated that Critical Race Theory is not taught at Virginia’s public schools. Why would he raise Critical Race Theory if that is the case? I don’t understand. This would make it seem even more evil if not taught in Virginia schools.
(…)
McAULIFFE, it is a racist dog whistle. It’s time to expose the truth. It’s sickening, it’s tragic.
(…)
McAULIFFE, I will keep you safe. When I was governor, I enjoyed the lowest rate of crime in any state.
(…)
SCARBOROUGH – Your opponent is avoiding us again — he is afraid to appear on the show. I don’t know. Let me ask you now whether he’d debate you. Both of you will be questioned in the middle. Morning JoeWill you be able to debate the host on-air?
McAULIFFE, Anytime and anywhere, 24 hours a day, will make it happen. His invitation was granted — I can recall doing six to ten shows within the last week. Each show ends with the exact same conclusion. Glenn Youngkin was invited, but refused to attend. Your running for governor. You have to stop hiding. He would not debate me for many months. You’re running to be governor? You could not possibly answer this difficult question.
