Reporter Gets Factual Update After Trying to Mask-Shame Ted Cruz During Bob Dole’s Funeral – Opinion

Today, Washington, D.C. hosted funeral services for Sen. Bob Dole, R-Kan., who died earlier in the week while in sleep.

Dole was at 98.

A who’s who of dignitaries, celebrities, and reporters were in attendance for the ceremony, including President Biden, who gave a speech:

First lady Jill Biden and Vice President Kamala Houston accompanied the president. Former President Bill Clinton was also present. The row to the left was occupied by Mike Pence, Dick Cheney and Dan Quayle (ex-Vice Presidents). Dole’s widow, former Sen. Elizbeth Dole, was escorted to her seat for the service by Gen. Mark Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Ted Cruz (R.Texas) was one of many Senators present at the ceremony. Cruz was quietly sitting in his seat while proceedings took place, but his appearance greatly triggered some of the “Usual Suspects” because he happened to be one of the few there who was not wearing a mask.

Reporter Kait Walsh, who works for WPRI 12 in Rhode Island, was watching the event via a live feed and made sure to point out Cruz’s maskless status in her reporting:

The problem with this is that D.C. doesn’t have a mask mandate. Walsh was surprised to learn of it from another Twitter user.

According to Muriel Bowser, Democrat Mayor of New York City, the most recent mandate for masks ended November 22nd.

Today, Mayor Bowser announced that on Monday, November 22, the District’s indoor mask mandate will be lifted. Instead of following a blanket mandate, residents, visitors, and workers will be advised to follow risk-based guidance from DC Health that accounts for current health metrics and a person’s vaccination status. In the next few days, updated guidance will be available at coronavirus.dc.gov. DC Health reminds citizens that vaccination is the best protection against COVID-19. It encourages everyone, no matter their status, to carefully consider risk factors and surrounding conditions when choosing layers of mitigation strategies, such as wearing a mask or social distancing.

Unfortunately, Walsh wasn’t the only one. Yale professor Howard Forman went nuts after reading a tweet from The Bulwark’s favorite unhinged leftist Molly Jong-fast on Cruz being one of the few at the service not wearing a mask:

It would seem to me that it wasn’t Cruz who was politicizing masks here. It was instead all of us who were doing it. took the timeTo make it a political issue, as Walsh and Forman did.

Perhaps Washington Cathedral is required to wear a mask. I’m not sure. It could have been Cruz talking to somebody there to get the permission to enter maskless. I don’t know. But it’s rather telling that instead of focusing on the life and legacy of a patriotic American like Bob Dole that so many were leftists were instead obsessing over Cruz attending the funeral without a mask.

Think they had the same reactions to Joe Biden’s continued flouting of his mask rules and CDC guidelines? Of course, that was just a rhetorical question. That question is one that we all have an answer for.
