Reid LOSES IT Over SCOTUS Striking Down Biden Vaccine Mandate

MSNBC’s ReidOut host Joy Reid was not happy with the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down President Biden’s vaccine employee mandate, arguing that the Supreme Court was “siding with the virus” and that the six Republican-appointed justices are right-wing ideologues, among other vile personal attacks.

Crazy Joy, as previously stated, started the segment unhinged declaring The U.S. Supreme Court voted in favor of the virus by stopping the Biden administration’s order requiring mandatory vaccinations for all companies with more than 100 employees.  Reid asked her two guests: Congressman Raul Ruiz, D-CA (and former U.S. Reid then asked both her guests, Congressman Raul Ruiz (D-CA) and former U.S. Senator.

As you can imagine neither one of them were pleased with the Supreme Court’s decision. They both made mild criticisms of it, compared with Reid’s ranting.

Their ideology is what I see. I think they’re right-wing ideologues I think they’re sort of doing sort of a Christian Nationalist version of you know whatever it is the Supreme Court used to do.

Reid then airs a clip where Biden claims that United Airlines has been successful because they have their own corporate mandate. Reid then attacked Katyal’s motives as he addressed the court.

Neal, are they really stating by their actions at this stage that they favor right-wing political, DeSantis-style right-wing policies, more than saving lives? It doesn’t matter if it causes many people to die.

In response, Katyal referenced a previous segment Reid had where she attacked Arizona Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema for her support of keeping the legislative filibuster, claiming “Today’s Supreme Court opinion looks a lot like Kyrsten Sinema’s Supreme Court opinions.”Katyal may have meant that the Supreme Court wouldn’t give in to the leftist agenda. Katyal didn’t clarify what he meant when referring to Sinema.

Katyal mentioned a different court ruling today regarding veteran’s benefits in his commentary about the mandated vaccines. Reid wasn’t aware of it. Katyal stated “you know I lost another case today at the Supreme Court about veterans’ benefits. But I’m going to stay silent on that.” As is typical of Reid being both ignorant and disrespectful of other wishes, she butted in asking for Katyal to discuss the case that he had just said he wanted to stay silent on:

REID: I have to ask you very quickly, what did they do to veterans’ benefits? Because. Very quickly?

KATYAL – It is the social insurance benefits. Today, they reduced them for certain veterans.

Reid also became enraged by Reid’s decision and she was forced to confess. “of course. Yes. Neal says it’s hard to see them as other than right-wing extremists at this stage. They all should just be able to have right-wing talkradio shows. Reid kept on kvetching They aren’t justices, in the grand tradition of Supreme Court justices. They are politicians. “I don’t see anything about their actions that I could possibly admire.”

At least five Supreme Justices couldn’t care less to have Joy Reid respect. They decided instead to protect the Constitution and rule of Law.

JOY REID – We are reporting a lot on COVID, with the U.S. Supreme Court siding against the virus by stopping the Biden administration’s requirement that vaccine mandates be issued to companies with more than 100 employees. However, the court ruled that another mandate for vaccinations of an estimated 20,000,000 health care workers could be enforced. Today was the day that President Biden intensified his efforts to combat the Omicron wave. This is the Omicron surge. He has pledged to give Americans free masks and tests. He’s also sending 120 military medical personnel to six states where hospitals have been overrun by cases. Let’s bring in Congressman and Physician Raul Ruiz of California who is joining us from the Palm Spring Convention Center where he’s helping the FIND Foodbank distribute COVID-19 antigen tests. We also have the former U.S. acting Secretary of State Neal Katyal. Solicitor General Neal Katyal. Thank you for coming. Congressman Ruiz, I would like to begin with you. Thank you so much for all that you do. Because that is what so many people need, I appreciate the fact that you’re helping them get their tests. As a doctor, you are out there helping people. What do you think about the Supreme Court removing this mandate?

REP. RAUL RUIZ : This doesn’t make much sense. From a public health standpoint, it is only bad for us. It is only good for our public’s health and for the large corporation’s businesses to keep their employees safe. They can either ensure that their employees get vaccinated, or get tested. To avoid spreading the virus to others, and resulting in more sick days for their company. This is not a good day for public health. We still have good news. Over 500 million test have been purchased by the Biden administration. The goal is to provide 300 million tests per month. There are also pilot programs that the Health and Human Services and USDA have that take the testing to those in need. If you’re food insecure then your immune system is probably weaker and therefore you’ll get more severely sick. People who live in poverty are likely to have less access to health care, insecure housing, and lack the space to keep their family safe from infection. These are high-risk, vulnerable populations. This program is very intelligent, and I agree. The pilot program works. Deb Espinosa is the head of FIND Foodbank, which has already distributed more than 50,000 testing kits. They’re going today to distribute more than 800 kits of testing to homes in Palm Springs, Coachella Valley.

REID: God bless you and all those involved. You know where credit is due. This is a fantastic program, and Biden’s administration deserves credit. That’s what I meant. We’re trying save lives. That is our ultimate goal. Neal and you know, I must confess that I do not have faith in this Supreme Court. They’re ideological. I think they’re right-wing ideologues I think they’re sort of doing sort of a Christian Nationalist version of you know whatever it is the Supreme Court used to do. However, you can just see the numbers. Biden spoke today about United Airlines. Let me listen to his words. Here’s President Biden talking today about one company which benefited from these mandates.

JOE BIDDEN, PRESIDENT: United Airlines had an average of one person die each week due to COVID-19. It’s now mandatory for all employees to be vaccinated. United had 3,600 employees test positive, but zero hospitalizations. Zero deaths in over eight weeks.

REID: The administration estimated that 22 million people would be vaccinated, and that this would prevent the hospitalization of 250,000 more. They voted in the same way as you would expect: six of them were right-wingers. Neal: Have they not at this moment stated that their political views are more favorable to right-wing right-wing right-wing politicians, such as DeSantis’ style right-wing politics rather than being concerned about saving lives? It doesn’t matter if it causes many people to die.

NEAL KATYAL (JOY): I think this is a very dark day for both the country and the court. You also know that today’s Supreme Court opinion mirrors the Kyrsten Sinema style of Supreme Court opinions.

REID:

KATYAL : I do not say this lightly when attacking the court. The court is rarely attacked by me. Indeed, you know I lost another case today at the Supreme Court about veterans’ benefits. But I’m going to stay silent on that. The vaccines ruling today is a serious threat to public health and safety. The idea that the Supreme Court was responsible is hard to visualize. It’s like the justices have created their own bubble. As you know, I was just there and can’t give any details about the COVID restrictions. My negative test was necessary. The police barred the public and visitors from entering the building. The podium was moved back fifteen feet to make me feel further away. To control the work environment, they did many things. OSHA and President Biden both said, “You know what, even if your job title is ordinary, you don’t have the ability to control the work environment in the same manner that Supreme Court justices do.” This is why we are going to do this for you, and place these restrictions. The court used a legal fiction in order to avoid it. They said that COVID is not an occupational hazard. You could either get it at work, school, or at a game of baseball. This logic suggests that OSHA should not regulate fire prevention plans.

REID: Right.

KATYAL: You could leave the oven on, or you might have your children playing with matches. It is absurd. This is a terrible thing for the court, and it’s a disaster for public health. It’s a great thing that Congressman has done what he could to fill in the holes when the justices fail to protect us.

REID: I have to ask you very quickly, what did they do to veterans’ benefits? Because. Very quickly?

KATYAL – It is the social insurance benefits. They have reduced the benefits for some veterans.

REID: It is. It is. Neal says it’s hard to see them as other than right-wing extremists at this stage. They all should just be able to have right-wing talkradio shows. They’re not Supreme Court justices, as they were. They are politicians. They’re just politicians to me. This country is suffering. Neal Katyal: I’m grateful that you are here. Thank you Congressman Raul Ruiz for all you do. Your efforts are a blessing. Thank you so much.
