Reid Guest: GOP Wants Jackson Killed, They Hate Her Because She’s Black

It’s Tuesday night ReidOutElie Mystal was a frequent guest on MSNBC and justice correspondent for The Nation. He repeated his assertion that Republicans had criticized Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji brown Jackson to try to kill her. He suggested that Republicans shouldn’t oppose her nomination simply because she is black.

The attacks against Ketanji brown Jackson are not aimed at her record. They target her personal character. And we all know that such attacks can endanger her life as well her family’s and children’s lives. We know this because they are aware of it.”Mystal laughed out loudly at the clearly false and potentially dangerous claim.

Mystal claimed that Jackson was being questioned by the GOP about his sentencing records for child porn. “it’s designed to put her life in danger.” Joy Reid was in agreement. “they’re punishing her.”

Reid attempted to bring Clarence Thomas, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and her wife into this argument. Ginni Thomas was the owner of Liberty Consulting. She represented a PAC called Fed Up PAC. You know what that Fed Up PAC represents. Roy Moore. Ok? When Roy Moore was running for the United States Senate, Ok.

Mystal ranting about the fact that Republicans want Judge Jackson to die, returned to his initial point of Judge Jackson being killed. These conspiracy theories about cuckoo cocoa puffs lead to real harm.

Mystal claimed that Republicans from the Senate Judiciary Committee released personal information about Mystal and her family in order to hurt and possibly kill them (click to expand).

MYSTAL: I think you actually pointed it out during the confirmation hearings, that while they’re making these attacks on Jackson, that can cause — put her life at danger, they are also being very clear about where her daughters go to school.

REID: Exactly!

MYSTAL: Right?  So if you were Q-Anon, you would know the addresses of Ketanji Brown and Jackson’s families, as well as where their children go to school. The government is giving them every information they require.

REID: Yep!

MYSTAL: Do real harm or bad things to someone whose sole crime is being black.

REID: They are offended by this.

Talk like this is not only dangerous, but also deranged. It should be condemned by anyone who values civil political discourse.

ELIE MYSTAL : The attacks against Ketanji brown Jackson are not aimed at her record but her personal character. And we all know that they can endanger her life as well as the lives of her family members and children. They know it. They also have an issue with her that we are aware of. And it‘s not her—it’s not the alleged pedophile sentencing record. It’s the fact that Ketanji Brown Jackson sentenced Edgar Welsh, who is the guy who went to Comet Pizza in Washington D.C. You are looking for the violent pedophiles. He’s known as the Pizzagate guy. Ketanji Brown Jackson sentenced him. You know, they didn’t talk about that sentencing. No, no they don’t — they won’t talk about when Ketanji brown Jackson sent that guy to four-years in prison. The Q-Anon folks are already mad at her. Now they go overboard with their pedophilia attack. It’s designed to put her life in danger, and that’s — you’re so right, this is why we have to talk about it because this is what they’re doing on purpose.

JOY REID: Yeah, they’re punishing her. To prove it, even if they’re not looking, they have no interest in pedophilia. They don’t care at all about this. Ginni Thomas had a company called Liberty Consulting. They represented a PAC named Fed Up PAC. Do you remember who Fed Up PAC was? Roy Moore. Ok? Roy Moore, when he was running to be the United States Senate. Christopher Rufo admitted that this is what they’re doing. We had him on the show he’s the guy who pretends that he’s an expert in something, I don’t know what he thinks he’s an expert in. He said that ideological grooming was good for Twitter. For the offline crowd, political predators are better.

So basically, I am counseling Republicans about what they should say and how they should respond to the Q-Anon attack. It is an attempt to transform it from a conspiracy theory into something that can be used politically. It’s important who is using it, I’m not sure if that’s your opinion. It’s people like Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz, and Lindsey Graham, who fashion themselves future presidential candidates, they know it will get their base that base behind them.

MYSTAL – It is a base play in politics. It’s possible that Lindsey Graham does not actually believe it, he simply wants to make it so he can be President. This doesn’t mean it is better. In fact, it can make things worse. However, you must remember, when discussing these conspiracy theories about cuckoo cocoa puffs, that they cause serious harm. I think you actually pointed it out during the confirmation hearings, that while they’re making these attacks on Jackson, that can cause — put her life at danger, they are also being very clear about where her daughters go to school.

REID: Exactly!

MYSTAL: Right?  So if you were Q-Anon, you would know the addresses of Ketanji Brown and Jackson’s families, as well as where their children go to school. The government is giving them every information they require.

REID: Yep!

MYSTAL means to do serious harm or bad things to someone whose sole crime is being black.

REID: They are offended by this.

MYSTAL, And even Republicans believe she’s qualified. Even the Republicans say there’s no moral scandal in terms of her personal behavior. It is because she is herself that this is directed at her.
