Washington — You might recall last week that I began calling President Vladimir Putin of Russia “KGB Col. Vladimir Putin.” I meant to diminish him in the eyes of my readers. He rose to colonel rank in the KGB or when the KGB existed. But this column attracts a very educated audience. Many of my readers claimed that Vlad did not attain the rank as a full colonel with the Soviet spy agencies. Vlad only rose to the rank in lieutenant colonel. His Black Belt for Martial Arts is likely exaggerated. It could be a pink or chartreuse belt. Perhaps there are only suspenders and no belt.
It is not looking good for Lieutenant Colonel Putin and the 200,000-strong Ukrainian army. His health was seen to be declining this weekend. According to rumors, he may be suffering from cancer. The Pentagon claims that he is dying from cancer. Three weeks ago, I told my readers that I noticed flab around the neck of Col. Putin. This was before any other person. I thought it might be due to him skipping his workouts to help with war-related burdens. Now comes word from Pentagon sources that he is “puffy-faced.” Well, puffy-faced or flabby-faced, it sounds serious to me, and we may not have Lt. Col. Putin to kick around for much longer.
Also, I heard that Lieutenant Colonel Putin frequently flew to the Ural Mountains for a respite from the stress of war. It would make sense to have a week off for the Urals if this is true. According to Russian estimates of the casualties, the number of Russians on ground is between 500 and 600. However, nine Russian aircraft were lost in one day. Whatever figure the truth may be, there is one certainty: Russia is at least a week behind schedule. It is likely that they are two weeks behind schedule. In Ukraine this means that the rainy season has begun. This isn’t the weather you would want to drive a tank or other armored vehicles in.
Putin, Lt. Col. is an example of a man who just led a heavily-populated army made up mostly of boys to foreign countries. The majority of the boys believed they were in Russia for training exercises. The boys now want to come home. On television, the most deplorable of them cry for their mothers. Some of them write letters to mothers just before they die in combat. From the beginning, they were not well-equipped. Many of them are now starving. The soldiers did not have fuel to support their armored vehicles and are now waiting for supplies at home. Perhaps they had enough paper to make their rolls. The campaign is likely to be remembered for being one of the worst military campaigns ever.
Putin is a traitor to Ukraine’s noble nation and he has made Russia a poor country. He is a threat to the entire NATO and most of the rest of the world. While it is unclear whether Putin will win, Benito Mussolini was a conqueror who marched into Abyssinia 1935 as a victor and then died a few years later hanging on a lamp post. Most of the world has been drawn to Lt. Col. Putin. We will see how long this lasts.
The two countries hosted a successful tourist trade. The revival of the tourism trade will be a long process. It will be years before any country is back to normal. Is there anyone responsible for this atrocity. Although I think of Mussolini more as a clown, the modern Mussolini was responsible. Putin, Lt. Col. is more than just a clown. Although his ineptitude in fighting the war is pure Mussolini. His cruelty in executing the war reminds me of Adolf Hitler’s conspirator.
