It’s very dangerous near Kyiv right now as the Russians close in to try to seize the city.
As a result, an American journalist, Brent Renaud, and two other videographers were killed, and they suffered injuries when Russians fired at their vehicle in Irpin (a suburb of Kyiv), according to the Kyiv chief.
Fox News reports that Benjamin Hall, a reporter who had been covering Ukraine a lot, was hurt in Kyiv Monday. He is currently being treated in hospital.

“Earlier today, our correspondent Benjamin Hall was injured while newsgathering outside of Kyiv in Ukraine,” Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement. “We have a minimal level of details right now, but Ben is hospitalized and our teams on the ground are working to gather additional information as the situation quickly unfolds.” [….]
“The safety of our entire team of journalists in Ukraine and the surrounding regions is our top priority and of the utmost importance,” Scott continued. “This is a stark reminder for all journalists who are putting their lives on the line every day to deliver the news from a war zone.” [….]
“We will update everyone as we know more,” Scott said. “Please keep Ben and his family in your prayers.”
Hall was one of the two major Fox voices in Ukraine. Trey Yingst posted a message in support of Hall. Hall can be seen on the left and Yingst is on the right.

Ukraine’s prosecutor general Irina Venediktova claimed on Facebook that “a reporter” had been wounded with two broken legs and was in intensive care, but Fox hasn’t confirmed that report concerning the nature of the injuries to Hall.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki responded to questions from Fox’s Jacqui Heinrich about what happened to Renaud and what happened to Hall. Heinrich inquired about what Joe Biden had said about responding “forcefully” if Americans were targeted and asked what if anything the response would be?
Psaki @BenjaminHallFNC being hurt in Ukraine: “Our thoughts, the President’s thoughts, our administration’s thoughts are w/him, his family, & all of you at Fox News[.]”

Psaki claimed that Joe Biden has “led the world in putting in place consequences” for Russia but they had nothing to preview about any kind of response at this point. That, of course, isn’t true. He didn’t put any consequences in place until after the invasion and even then had to be dragged into ratcheting them up. He has ongoing meetings with Russia regarding the Iran agreement and climate change. So while they like to say that, it just isn’t true.
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said they would impose “appropriate consequences” over the killing of American Brent Renaud. But with the Biden Administration, it’s not clear if “appropriate consequences” or “severe price” mean much of anything.
