President Who? Networks Devote 23 Minutes to Inflation, 85 Seconds on Biden

Joe Biden’s safety is being maintained by all the network. The shocking new inflation data arrived Wednesday and showed that the rate has risen to 9.1 percent. This is a record for 41 years. And while the networks all covered that new number for 23 minutes and four seconds on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, they allowed just a scant 85 seconds on the President’s responsibility.

Even when Biden’s name came up, it was often defensive. Today co-host Savannah Guthrie on Thursday wondered if we should focus on the “incremental progress”  Biden has made:

According to the administration, 9.1 percent is a staggering figure. However, gasoline prices have dropped 40 cents per month. That’s true. These numbers do not reflect the incremental progress to which, for example, White House points?

Here’s how the numbers broke down: On ABC’s World News TonightAnd Good Morning AmericaJournalists devoted 7 minutes, 6 seconds to inflation numbers. However, they only gave 32 seconds to Biden. They allowed only 32 seconds on Biden. CBS Evening News And CBS MorningsOffer five minutes and 45 second on the poor news but just 19 seconds on President.

NBC Nightly News and NBC’s TodayThe total inflation coverage was ten minutes and thirteen seconds. Only 34 seconds were used to mention Biden.

On Thursday’s Good Morning AmericaMary Bruce wrote the entire Biden mention in two sentences. Talking about the President’s trip to Israel, she noted, “Of course, domestic issues are also weighing heavily here. The President responding to those alarming inflation numbers calling it unacceptably high but also downplaying the report saying it doesn’t account for declining gas prices.”

Continue reading CBS Mornings, Adriana Diaz repeated Biden talking points: “In a statement Wednesday, president Biden called the inflation numbers unacceptably high but added the figures were out of date given the recent drop in gas prices.”

All three networks, to be certain, portrayed skyrocketing inflation as bad news for the nation. As an example, GMA’s Amy Robach warned, “We turn to the latest on soaring inflation. Prices rose 9.1 percent in the last year, which is worse than we expected. This is the highest inflation rate in almost 41 years. In some areas of the country, the inflation rate is above ten percent.”

Like all other networks, Robach tried to keep her eyes on the bright side. Referencing falling gas prices, Robach added, “How the Federal Reserve may respond and It’s not all bad news.”

There is one certainty when it comes down to terrible news that has hit the nation: Networks want you to forget who President is. And if you do remember, definitely don’t blame Joe Biden.
