It must be true, please!
This thought could be almost heard by liberals Politico“Sam Stein” began his MSNBC report You are way too young on Wednesday when he presented a new Politico/Morning Consult Poll revealing that 69% of the respondents claimed that the January 6 riot impacted their worldview.
Stein then reported what “dominates” the political world “— inflation.
We see Stein first raising hopes for liberal viewers when he presents the poll results to Jonathan Lemire, MSNBC’s host (who also works at Politico).
JONATHAN LEMIRE : Sam, we are grateful for the new polls you have brought to us. The January 6 Select Committee hearings are continuing. 69% of respondents say that the attack on U.S. Capitol has affected their outlook. Please explain what this means, and the significance it may have.
The joy meters of liberals would then have begun to go out-of-control. Sam Stein added a warning note to their hope and sank the hopes.
SAM STEIN – I’d like to caution you that you can get more information if it is broken down by party. This shows that Democrats pay a lot more attention to hearings than Republicans. What have you heard about the hearings? Have you heard about the hearings before? The numbers that we have are 58% who heard of the hearings. 56% are Democrats. Only 25% are Republicans.
Wait! After all the hype in the media only 58% have “heard about the hearings?” Well, 58% said that they had heard about hearings “a lot” and “some”.
Following that nuance from Stein’s downer, there was more good news.
STEIN – Inflation dominates the political landscape right now. It is a fearful topic.
We also tested how many people had heard or read about specific issues. Inflation was the dominant issue. Around 75% said that they had heard about or read lots about inflation. The cost of goods is the prevailing topic that seems to be taking all the oxygen out.
Stein then revealed that January 6th is virtually dead because of inflation. Stein continued to make matters worse by pointing out moves such as the Strategic Petroleum Reserve being drained didn’t have any effect.
They debated this for many months. The former President Barack Obama referred to it as a joke and resisted the idea when gas prices rose under his supervision. Earlier this year, Democrats in Congress said that they do not believe it will be of any material benefit. Because it would reduce the Highway Trust Fund’s money, people could be hurt. We are now with the Biden White House offering a three month gas tax holiday. Hopefully it can us get us some money for people at the pump, help them with the gas prices, but like you noted you need some support in Congress for this thing and it’s not clear that they have enough to get it passed.
While liberals might be hopeful at the beginning of this segment, they will end up feeling very discouraged when Stein reveals that it is inflation and not Jan. 6 hearings that are dominating the voters’ attitudes.
