NY Attorney General Letitia James Threatens to Charge Reawaken America Rally Organizer With Violence and Intimidation – Opinion

New York Attorney General Letitia James is not only going after Donald Trump and his business interests, but she’s also bringing her Third World governance philosophy (see New York AG Letitia James Flies in on Her Broom to Demand Google De-List Pro-Life Centers, In Scathing Letter, Firearms Policy Coalition Promises to Take NY AG Letitia James Up on Her ‘We’ll See You in Court’ Offer, and Donald Trump Scores Win Against Letitia James’ New York Witch-Hunt) to political speech in general.

Clay Clark is an entrepreneur and ex-mayor of Tulsa. Since April 2021, Reawaken America has hosted a number of events. These tours have two consistent themes. COVID restriction are not constitutional and Trump won the 2020 election. The majority of these events were hosted by churches but they weren’t in the context of religious events. Their first choice for a venue in Upstate NY was the Mainstreet Armory of Rochester when they made plans to stage their show. Unfortunately, this deal failed after opposition to the rally was raised. In Batavia NY, the Cornerstone Church was chosen as the fallback plan.

That’s where things got interesting. Letitia James, New York Attorney General, sent Clay Clark and Michael Flynn an email threatening criminal prosecution if the rally was held. Just to make sure that the point wasn’t missed, it was sent to them by way of the pastor of Cornerstone Church.

Legal Insurrection is a great source of information for copying the letter.

This is shameful pseudo-legal bullying.

Any mention of certain subjects or the chosen date is objectionable.

These concerns center around the event’s proposed dates, which coincide with the five-year anniversary of the deadly Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, and past extremist statements made by yourselves and the other featured speakers on the tour. I am especially concerned about featured speakers’ regular allusions to white nationalist ideals connected to the “Great Replacement Theory,” a conspiracy theory that warns of white genocide and efforts to replace native born immigrants. It is often linked to violence such as the mass shooting in Buffalo, which was motivated by racism.

Additionally, she threatens legal action should the rally continue.

New York law bans harassment and racially motivated violence. New York Civil Rights Law §79-n empowers the Office of the Attorney General to investigate acts of violence, intimidation, threats, or harassment directed at people based on a belief or perception regarding an individual’s race, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, religion, religious practice, age, disability, or sexual orientation. Any person violating this statute could be subject to $5,000 per violation in addition to the actual damages.

This letter is bullsh** from start to finish. The Attorney General doesn’t have the legal authority to forbid speakers to say just about anything they want to say. They can literally yell “Fire” in a crowded rally if they want to. People can be called hurty-pants. They can call people hurty-pants words because of the First Amendment, which prohibits governments from prohibiting speech.

As planned, the rally took place.

However, no one was hurt but there were some feelings.

In the service of truth in reporting, the “Reverend” Nathan Empsall is Episcopalian which calls into question his ability to qualify as an actual clergyman.

Letitia Jam is likely to be fundraising from her anti American, antidemocratic, antiintelligent letter.

When Thomas Jefferson talked about the “separation of church and state,” what he feared was not the church interfering in affairs of state. As long as people of faith vote to elect representatives, the church will continue to play an important role in government. Concerned about the government’s interference with church affairs (doctrine or governance), he said.

Any church can teach and host whatever speakers they want, regardless of whether it is based on hate or race, without being threatened by an attorney general.

This is just one example of the way Democrats behave when they are in power in a state with only one party. You can bet they run straight to Hugo Boss’s nearest store and grab every outfit that looks good, as long as it is either brown or black. However, these are not common times. Alex Parker, my colleague, reported recently on an investigation the Department of Justice launched into the Southern Baptist Convention. DOJ Investigates Southern Baptist Convention and Reasons Is Extremely Concerning. The convention’s organization is voluntary and is made up of churches that are independent. It is therefore difficult to identify any legitimate federal interest. This is beyond what’s obvious. Letitia Jam tried to block freedom speech and association for her detestable family members, but the feds have fired a warning shot at the SBC in an election year that is rampant.
