NPR LIES In Promoting Brennan Center as ‘Nonpartisan Think Tank’ for Democracy

NPR’s last All Things Considered “newscast” of 2021, they considered “A look back at attacks on voting rights in 2021 — and what could be next.” This “attack” is by Republicans. Liberal analysts are the only ones that were able to examine this phenomenon.

MARY LOUISE KYELLY, HOST – 2021 isn’t considered an election year. However, it has not been quiet on the voter front. New laws have been adopted in nineteen states that restrict access to the vote. New laws restricting voting access have been passed in 19 states by partisan election auditors. Polls indicate that a large number of Republicans believe Donald Trump stole the 2020 election. The truth is that it wasn’t. Let’s first look at the changes in voting rights this year and look forward to what they might have for election results in 2022 or 2024.

Wendy Weiser (Vice President for Democracy at Brennan Center for Justice) is our guide in these shifting sands. It is an independent think tank, which works to protect democracy and justice systems. Wendy Weiser, welcome.

To be clear, this is a fabrication. Take a look at Open Secrets for information about campaign contributions made by Brennan Center for Justice employees. It is pages of contributions only to Democrats, including Joe Biden (and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama) for President. In 2020, there were 55 contributions to Democrats and liberal PACs. There are 282 items on the list, but not one R.

The president of the Brennan Center is Michael Waldman, who was Director of Speechwriting for President Bill Clinton from 1995 to 1999, and special assistant to the president for policy coordination from 1993 to 1995. This center was named after William Brennan, Supreme Court justice and hero to Left.

NPR did the same thing — also with Waldman, Clinton’s aide — on March 26, 2004. Anchor Audie Cornish said to listeners, “That’s Michael Waldman.” the Brennan Center for Justice, a nonpartisan group that advocates for the expansion of voting rights.”

On January 30, they also did the same with Myrna Perez from the center. Later in 2021, Perez was confirmed as a Biden appointment to the federal courts.

All of the questions that she asked her Brennan Center expert were softballs.

KELLY: Do you see the past year in terms of overwhelmingly negative developments regarding voting rights?

WEISER: That’s right. This year has seen a reduction in voting rights as well as a decrease in democracy generally.

KELLY : Now let’s see what 2022 could bring. Talk has been dominated by the state of affairs. Is there any way to change this without federal legislation Voting rights bills which would have extended or protected voting access are deadlocked in Congress, as you all know.

They closed the doors with panic at the “dress rehearsal” riot. Only solution? The leftist legislation that federalizes elections (including banning voter identification)

KELLY: The last question. This isn’t a vote question but people may think about it as they hear you speak as someone who is concerned with protecting democracy.Do you think January 6, was just a rehearsal for the successful coup?

WEISER: That’s (laughter), a great question. It really worries me that January 6 is coming up. We haven’t put this behind us, I worry. On the contrary, there are efforts across the nation to get Americans upset about our electoral system. If we fail to pass federal legislation and don’t provide strong protections from election sabotage we’ll see another January 6, which I fear will be repeated. This movement isn’t going away.
