Woke pro-LGBTQ group GLAAD just gave five Big Tech platforms a failing score on LGBTQ “safety” online.
“They don’t have enforcement,” GLAAD CEO Sarah Kate Ellis claimed July 14 on CBS Mornings.
Radical LGBTQ+ organization GLAAD published a report giving five major social media companies failing grades for “safety” related to LGBTQ+ users. Ironically, GLAAD claimed that Big Tech is restricting the online activities of LGBTQ+ users, but demanded an increase in the censorship for allegedly offensive content.
During the discussion on air, Ellis demanded that government intervene on social media.
GLAAD gave all five social media platforms it assessed – Facebook, TikTok, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube – scores in the 40s out of 100 for LGBTQ+ “safety,” and gave individual scores across multiple categories.
Meta-owned Instagram scored 48 percent and TikTok was at 43%. But all five platforms scored 100 percent for “Policy commitment to protect LGBTQ users.”
Notably, TikTok had the highest score for “Actions to restrict harmful content,” at 57.14 percent. TikTok’s Chinese Communist Party-controlled ByteDance is the owner. Recently, it was revealed that Chinese workers have direct access U.S. TikTok data.
Several platforms received a zero for “Targeted deadnaming and misgendering prohibition” in the GLAAD report, but GLAAD gave TikTok 100 percent and Twitter 91.67 percent in this category. Twitter just caused a controversy by suspending psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson from its platform for supposedly “deadnaming” celebrity “Elliot” Page, who now identifies as a man. Ellis cited this instance while talking to CBS, and “deadnamed” Page, saying, “her deadna—his deadname was used.”
On page 13, a targeted harassment bar graph was included. It did not mention Christians even though anti-Christian hate and violence have increased since the Supreme Court’s decision. Roe V. Wade last month.
GLAAD aggressively demanded censorship of “conversion therapy,” which it called “torture.”
Some detransitioners, or individuals who return to their biological sex, recently spoke out to describe both the harm transgender ideology caused them and how much persecution and hate they receive for not wanting to be “transgender” anymore.
Ellis claimed on CBS that online hate has motivated over 300 “anti-LGBTQ bills” to be introduced in state legislatures across the country. One such piece of legislation would presumably be Florida’s bill restricting radical and explicit sexualized content in elementary schools.
GLAAD’s Social Media Safety Index Advisory Committee includes leftist, pro-censorship podcast host Kara Swisher, a “performer” named Alok who identifies as “they/them,” and Fight for the Future Director Evan Greer, who identifies as “she/they.”
The report cited the leftist Media Matters for America in stating that “Conservative media” are using Facebook to spread “anti-trans narratives.” GLAAD failed to note that this alleged “anti-trans” content includes scientifically based objections to gender reassignment surgery.
