What do you know? A football coach wants his players to be respectful and show discipline. Of course, it’s not an NFL coach; it’s Jackson State University head coach Deion Sanders demanding the high standards.
Just before fall semester classes began at Jackson State, Coach Sanders informed his men what flies and what doesn’t.
What doesn’t pass? Here’s Sanders’ list:
School, we got school today, right? Please listen clearly, and speak concisely. There are no slides. No slides. No exposed armpits. There are no wife beatingers [tank-top shirts]. Sit in the front of the classroom and be the perfect gentleman because when it comes down to it, and you need help, that professor is going to recall your character and who you’ve been consistently in that class.
There are no slides, sleevesless shirts or armpits.
Sanders’ expectations:
Make sure to shower prior to going to class. I don’t want to get a report that you was in some bull-junk in our apparel, representing us. Kids in the back of class making noise, he’s free-styling to the whole class while I was trying to teach it with a Jackson State football shirt on. This is not happening. When it gets back to me, it’s going to get back to your [position] coaches first, and then it’s going to get back to me. When it gets back to me, it’s going to be a problem.
This is what it would look like if NFL coaches required this level of discipline. Imagine it being a black coach demanding high standards and character building. That would bring about all kinds of charges: racism, dog whistling, bigotry and … you name it.
Aka “Primetime,” Coach Sanders is black man working at a historically black public university. The woke and PC mob can see him. He is also a Christian.
The NFL can certainly use this kind of instruction, this type of character building. This could help to reduce the amount of drunk driving, wife beatings and other criminal acts pro-players have been arrested.
Coaching similar behavior and appearance standards could be beneficial to more universities and colleges.
Just this week, Buffalo Bills rookie punter Matt Araiza and two of his former San Diego State football teammates were accused of gang raping a 17-year-old girl last year. This week, she filed a lawsuit against them, in San Diego County Superior Court. ESPN reported Araiza, redshirt freshman Zavier Leonard and Nowlin Ewaliko (no longer on the Aztecs team) have been accused of rape, gender violence and false imprisonment.
Football – both pro and college – need to follow Sanders’ lead and clean up their acts.
