‘No Spark’; CBS Pans ‘Debunked’ GOP Claims About Jackson, Sneers Over ‘Grandstanding’

Wednesday’s CBS MorningsKetanji Jackson, Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, was supported with nearly 11 minutes of eyerolling spin. She denounced Republican questions as not related to Jackson, and instead, to please her base, made fun of concerns about Jackson’s history in sentencing child predators. “no there there,” And described Republicans as having failed. “strike a match.”

Worse yet, one CBS liberal even questioned the need for the confirmation hearings and process because there’s so much “grandstanding”They meant Republicans and not Democrats.

Gayle King (co-host, Democratic Party donor) started the coverage with the statement that “Partially because…” “[s]everal Republican senators questioned her on issues that matter to the party’s voters, including critical race theory” It’s not just about Jackson being a judge.

Nikole Killion, a Congressional reporter, adopted a liberal spin and offered no resistance to absurd claims about GOP questions not being within the pale. “[T]Some of the questions from Republican senators are being dismissed by Democrats and the White House. They say they cross the line and are even pushing on smears based on conspiracy theories.”

Jackson’s popularity was hyped by Killion “addressed the elephant in the room” About sentencing for child sex crime, “refut[ing] debunked claims by Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley that she issued lenient sentences in child pornography cases.” In the clip used, Jackson played up the emotional argument that she still views sex crimes as “egregious” and “heinous.”

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) came up as well with his concerns about CRT and the antiracist curriculum at a private school Jackson’s on the board of, but Killion showed her opinion by taking the matter directly to Cruz: “When Senator Cruz was asked how this is relevant to the Supreme Court, he said critical race theory is divisive.”

Referring to Jackson’s claim that she has her own record as a jurist, Killion said that “record…almost brought the judge to tears as she talked about the challenges of balancing motherhood.”

In the show’s second hour, fill-in co-host Vladimir Duthiers expressed astonishment that Cruz would ask Jackson about race and there’s such thing as a view that “whites are somehow oppressors.”

Speaking to correspondents Jan Crawford and Robert Costa, Duthiers teed the former up to respond to his disgust with the Texas senator (click “expand”):

DUTHIERS: Senator Ted Cruz, his like of query to Judge Jackson seemed to indicate to the first black woman ever to be nominated to the Supreme court that she’s soft on crime, she’s soft on pedophiles, and that she holds views that whites are somehow oppressors. Was that your reaction to her response?

CRAWFORD – I believe she was a mix of strong when she had to defend herself and compassionate when she talked about her family. You can see that her sentencing was in accordance with other federal judges’ approaches to these cases. This does not consider what was said yesterday by Republican senators. It also does not account for the fact that her sentences are in accordance with recommendations made in these cases by probation officers. They will now focus on other instances and how she might be a more lenient sentencer, which I believe is what they are doing today.

Crawford said that Republicans should be included. “got no traction” This was not possible. “strike a match”And create “sparks” whereas viewers saw Jackson’s “personality”As “she was forceful” Also available: “compassionate.”

Costa fed the narrative that many GOP questions weren’t genuine but shamelessly partisan, saying that, when he “pull[s] [senators] aside, they say that these hearings are not just about Judge Jackson”Instead, “a prism for the upcoming midterm elections”To “motivate their own voters.”

King said that she was then “so glad” Costa “made that point” because she found herself questioning why they’re questions were “even relevant” to Jackson. She also had the gall to decry “partisanship” in Washington and opposition to Jackson, wondering if Republicans could still back her.

Crawford and Nate Burleson were co-hosts and swung to Democrats after they said that Republicans were being off topic. They then swooned at Senator Cory Booker (D–NJ). “getting a bit emotional” Real “moment”Remember. Crawford also took a dig at Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) (click “expand”):

BURLESON – Jan, how do you feel about Senator Cory Booker and Judge Jackson’s conversation asking her questions about her family, her children, and getting quite emotional? Are you convinced that the Democrats’ strategy will work?

CRAWFORD: Oh, I mean, they — that was striking. There will be moments in these hearings where it’s just easy to feel the fight leaving the room. That was what we witnessed in Justice Alito confirmation hearings. For example, when his wife burst into tears and ran for her life, It was a very close call for Senator Booker. It was, I think, one of the strongest questions of the day. It was not only the one about her parents that you mention, but it also included his question about high black male murder rates, which she said made her worry about her family. It was anguishing. I remember her saying that. This revealed a personal side to her. And then, of course, on the other side of the aisle there was a misstep by Republican Senator Kennedy from Louisiana who described her as articulate as if that’s somehow surprising for a star debater, Harvard law grad who’s been a federal judge for a decade. So — but I think that’s going to be interesting to see how all of this, you know, what we saw with the powerful questioning from Senator Booker then that misstep by Senator Kennedy, how that affects some of the tone of today’s questioning.

Before wrapping, King questioned the confirmation process (which she also did following Jackson’s formal nomination) seeing as how “the numbers are in her favor” and “the outcome” is already set, but we’re instead subjected to days of GOP “grandstanding.”

We wonder if these individuals were amnesic and therefore missed the events. 2017, 2018Please see the following: 2020?
