Los Angeles D.A. George Gascón Face Plants on a PSA Video, Proving What a Feckless Coward He Is – Opinion

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón is trolling the citizens of the county. This is the only explanation for this lame PSA video on the L.A. County D.A.’s website that’s supposed to “help” those citizens combat automobile theft.

Michael Moore, Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department reported Tuesday on an increase in violent crime within the City of Angels. It’s bad. Like, Really bad.

This year has seen an increase of robberies within various Los Angeles communities. It is alarming that these robberies have seen an increase in the violence involved and in firearm use. On March 22nd, 2022, the Board of Police Commission met with Chief Moore to discuss citywide robbery statistics and crime prevention techniques.

The following statistics have been collected about robberies in Los Angeles:

• Citywide Robberies are up 18 percent Year to Date compared to 2021, and up 5 percent compared to 2020;
• Year to Date, Citywide robberies with a firearm are up 44 percent (+221) compared to 2021, 57 percent (+261) compared to 2020, and up 60 percent (+270) compared to 2019.
• Year to Date, Citywide robberies with a firearm have accounted for 36 percent of all robberies and accounts for 74 percent of the City’s Year to Date total robbery increase.
• South Bureau (227) and 77th Street Area (102) had the most robberies with a firearm.

Gascón is finding himself against a wall. He is, on the one hand closer to recall, like San Francisco D.A. Chesa Boudin. The first Recall Gascón attempt failed, but a second signature gathering attempt could well reach its goal. People are fed up with not only Gascón’s failed policies that coddle criminals and attack the victims, but his cavalier attitude toward the rising crime that has resulted from this.

When Gascón was confronted with the evidence that a “juvenile,” now-transgendered sexual offender who Gascón let off lightly, boasting on tape that not only did he do it, but expressed his delight over how he gamed the system, this is all Gascón had to say:

The current juvenile system does not have the capacity to provide sufficient support to assist someone aged 26 facing such high-level challenges. For most people, a few years in jail is sufficient. But it might not for Ms. Tubbs. This case would not have been handled differently if she had shown such disregard for the suffering she caused. Her case was complex and unique. I would have handled them differently. We will be able to move forward with this policy change.

He did not appear to have a moment for clarity, nor did he renounce his policies. This video shows just how far he is removed from rising criminality due to his neglect, malfeasance and refusal to perform this job: to prosecute criminals.

Embattled Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon, facing surging crime in his jurisdiction, released a video this week with tips on how residents can try to discourage thieves from stealing their cars.

It comes as he faces a second recall effort in just over a year in office and is struggling to fend off accusations he’s soft on criminals and mistreating their victims.

“In Los Angeles County, we’re seeing a noticeable increase in auto theft,” Gascon says in the video. “My office is working with our law enforcement partners to hold accountable the people involved in this property crime.”

He then gives advice to car owners on how they can prevent thieves from getting into their cars.

First:

  • Never leave your car unlocked.

What universe can anyone living in a big city allow their cars to go unlocked? This is yet more evidence of Gascón’s elitist disconnect from the reality the rest of the world lives in.

  • You should not leave a spare key in your vehicle.

This is a stupid thing to do. Southern Californians rely on their garage for storage. They also park outside the house. Get out there, men!

That’s negligible, since not everyone lives off a major traffic strip. You’ve probably been in Altadena and North East Pasadena by night. What about La Canada Flintridge? Hollywood Hills Street lighting is less likely if you are not on the main street. Next, he’ll probably suggest carrying a flashlight.

  • Purchase an anti-theft device for your vehicle

This is what you should tell the Lamborghini owner, who believed he was safe and sound outside his brightly lit Downtown LA home.

Despite the fact that there were many streetlights and other pedestrians around this car, the man still was attacked. News Flash: An anti-theft device won’t do much if the car theft thief just robs you.

This is another false statement taken from the video. Gascón said he is

“Working with law enforcement to hold accountable the people responsible for these property crimes.”

But when Gascón was sworn in on December 7, 2020, he immediately installed his directives. The D.A.’s office will not seek the death penalty Ever. No matter the severity of the crime, juveniles will not be prosecuted as adults. Gang and gun enhancements to put violent criminals away for a longer time—out the window! Bail is no longer an option.

This is just the beginning.

It is possible that the person who pulled the trigger on the Lamborghini owners is either a juvenile, or it’s a first offence. It is unlikely that the owner will be convicted or arrested.

This is Gascón’s Los Angeles, and people don’t like it one bit.

This is an interesting fact:

Gascon created a diversion program in December for juveniles who were accused of certain felonies such as burglary and robbery.

Bastian stated that while he didn’t immediately know the breakdown of the number of participants in the diversion programme who were accused of car thefts but that the program only handled about 20 people per month over the past three months, in a county of more than 10,000,000 residents.

This little PSA move is simply window dressing to cover the train wreck that Gascón’s policies have caused. Like his friend Governor Hair Gel, Gascón figured a sop that makes him appear as if he is listening to citizen concerns and doing Something is all that’s needed.

Real change is desperately needed, instead, Gascón decides to play “Michael Scott” from The Office.
